Who has purchased sight unseen?

We bought at BWV without having stayed there or on site, we had visited the board walk area and liked the fact you can walk to two parks. We've only stayed at SSR since we bought our points & loved that, it'll be our first BWV trip next year.

We purchased BCV preconstruction. I had only a foggy idea of what I was buying. We were staying the Fort Wilderness Cabins and I loved having a kitchen and sitting area, so we bought DVC to have those on future trips. We loved BCV as well as Hilton Head. We sold all 4 contracts last year as we were frustrated with the ever increasing maintenance fees and ticket prices into the parks. We were also disappointed with the quality of the food as compared to previous years. That said, we have gone on vacation and stayed in our RV at Ft. Wilderness and enjoyed our visit.

We purchased at SSR sight unseen on the re-sale market. We never planned on booking 11 months in advance anyway so the benefits of a home resort didn't mean much to us. We have since stayed at Poly, GFV, AKL several times and at SSR once. I least liked SSR. No regrets as it was the "best deal" for us to get into DVC and we haven't had trouble booking where we want to stay although we had to wait list a few times but they always seemed to come through for us.

We bought BWV in 2002 - we'd never stayed at a DVC resort and had never been through the International Gateway.

Regrets, no...but that was a long time ago. I don't know that I'd make the same decision again under today's Disney circumstances (and I certainly wouldn't make it today under my own circumstances - we bought because kids were little, my son has outgrown Disney).

We bought BCV without having stayed there, and never regretted it. It was the only WDW based resort we would want to own, well...maybe Wilderness Lodge :). I think WDW based properties - if you know your own style, and what makes you happy on vacation -- you can get a sense of what they are like just touring the property, without staying there. Non-WDW, I think you have to stay and experience them. Would never buy non-WDW sight unseen. We stayed at HHI for two days on the drive home from Florida to NJ, and we bought there. Loved it, loved the "stop over" concept. This year, we used our points and stayed Aulani, and then bought there.

We have a contract on SSR awaiting ROFR right now, having never stayed at SSR, or even seen it...except for from Downtown Disney. We chose it due to lower buy-in, lower maintenance fees, and the boom at Downtown going on right now. We're not "year out" planners, so the 11 month booking windown isn't that important...the 7 months window fits us much better.

We have stayed at pofq the last two trips. Never been in any of the dvc rooms. Purchased blt Bc of mk and monorail. Being we have three kids 5 and under we spend most time at mk. Not having to fold the stroller and unload the kids will be nice.

This may be the craziest of all - we purchased SSR and have never been to Florida.

Sight unseen. Previously stayed cash on the Boardwalk at all other resorts (no DVC's of any kind) and loved area.

Bought BCV and love it. Mad at myself for only buying in 2014.

I did and never regretted it. I need to pre-plan my vacations or I won't get them so the idea of DVC fit that need. Plus I love WDW so it was a match, even though I had never stayed at a DVC resort before. I brought BLT before it opened mostly because of location and number of years remaining on the contract.

I bought my first contract, HHI, sight unseen. I had been to Hilton Head before and live in South Carolina, though. I thought I would go to HH occasionally (like for holidays) and DVC-not-busy times for WDW. Then I stayed at in a BWV room for F & W, etc. Now I own 4 contracts because I have gotten more picky about my WDW stays and also because I go to HH much more than I originally expected.
