Tom retired in 2000 after 35 years in the Navy. He didn't work for 6 years. Well in 2006 the company I worked for asked him to join them as their warehouse manager. They have slowed down (economy - 100K pools aren't the hot item right now) and they downsized. So....he's retired again!

Be careful......The undertow has been really bad lately.
Over last weekend 7 people died in NY waters!

ALL IS OKAY HERE - didn't even feel it....BUT Disneyland got shook up a little though!!! but i think they're okay there too...at least so far i haven't heard anything to the contrary other than a little shakin go on...

Brenda~ SO glad you are ok. Have fun at the beach tomorrow COlleen! NSalz and I went to Point Pleasant Beach today for a meet with some folks from the Secret Green CLub. We had a blast! (We missed you DU!) Luckily the flags were green today, but we definitely kept a close watch on the kids and only went in the water right in front of the lifeguard station. We drove 3 hours down and 3 hours back for about 6 hours at the beach and it was still incredibly relaxing.

DU - are you doing anything besides working today? I know you've had a hectic week, month, year or so....anything exciting planned?

Hiya PD - it sounds like ya'll had fun! I vaguely know what the secret green club is (Dissers - right?). Sounds like a busy day...I'm glad you were able to relax. I'd have to stick a nap in there somewhere.

TW - I'm glad you Dad enjoyed his party and I hope Mika is okay. Enjoy your beach weekend and like everyone else said...please stay safe!

DalPal - did you get your lawn done? It's typical summer in Florida - thunderstorms every afternoon, so our lawn guy is a day overdue. He's real good, so he'll get it when he can.

Well, DH & I dropped my parents off at the airport. They're spending 6 weeks at their summer home. Sounds luxurious, but it's just a small cabin on a lake in Michigan. They usually spend from May to September there, but their health issues have really grounded them. They are as excited as they can be. My brother & his DW is already there to meet them and open the cabin, stay a week and then they'll take off. They have plans to go to a casino tomorrow. I'm looking forward to six quiet weeks. They're wonderful, but as you can imagine - elderly parents can be time consuming!

Well, DH and I are spending the afternoon reading, so I'll scoot for now...the perfect thing to do during a thunderstorm!

A fire in the fireplace IS lovely - except in Florida we get Thunderstorms when it's 90º out...so it's too warm & sticky for it. When you get them in California the temp drops significantly. I loved living in California, but after being in the Florida humidity for so long - the dryness is too much for me!

i LOVE t-storms; we don't get too many here...

One of my customers last week was from California. And we were standing outside, watching a TS & ...and he mentioned that he hasnt seen a thunderstorm in years!!!

I never knew that about California untill last week.

I just LOVE a good thunder storm....
Ya know the kinds that rattle your windows and lights up the sky ....

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was go out and play in a thunderstorm...until my mom called me in and wanted to know if I was crazy....LOL.

I still really enjoy them...I really like watching the trees blowing and the clouds rolling in, just before a storm starts...awsome!

Its my normal Thurs. ....So Im on the run

Actually I am meeting the LIME GREEN gang (That PD & Nsalz) met up with the other day on Saturday!

I have a wedding shower to go to Saturday and Sunday am taking DD(16) on a trip to tour and interview at a couple of colleges about 5 hours away so that meet is out for me! But DU you will have a great time, everyone was so nice and really easy to get along with. It was very natural.

I never knew that about California untill last week.

I overheard someone in Barnes and Noble on her cell phone SUnday. We had a pretty minor thunderstorm here. I don't know where she was from, but she was talking to someone about how horrible it was and staying in the mountains, it was like being in a storm on top of the world and she was sure she was going to die!
