So, how is the new job going Cally?

Are you liking it ?

How are the boys handling having you working?

Robin, it's going good I think (doctor issues)

I love it!!! The doctor that works for the facility is a real ****** (can I say that:confused3 ) other then that I like the people that work my shift and I like all my patients. :thumbsup2

I'm still trying to figure out the paperwork. It's alot of paperwork I have to deal with but all I can do is take it as it comes.

The kids are handling it pretty good. Roger spends a lot more time with them which is a good thing.

We catch up on family time during the weekends so it's working out good. ;) (hence my lack of time to post on the dis)

:confused3

Okay, see the guy in the very front?

That is my husband with his airplane.

Now see the airplane in the very back.

That is also my husband's airplane (since he bought it in the fall).

So that gives you an idea of what size of airplane it is.

We most likely will only travel with the bigger one in the back.

Don't know where we would put 2 airplanes but I'm sure he will be trying to figure out a way to take them both:rolleyes:

I'm glad it is going well for you Cally.

Some doctors are like that. I tapdance with a doctor and she is actually very nice.

What type of patients do you deal with?

Alzheimer, very old and feeble or the ones that are quite self sufficient and only need someone there to keep an eye on them?

I googled em to get what I found...

I wish Rick luck in his search~

Yeah, he has been looking on the internet to see what he could find too.

I'm sure that something will come along.

Trouble is that we don't want to spend a ton of money on it, of course.

The doctor I work with is from another country and I think maybe it's a cultural thing the way he treats us nurses. :confused3

But anyways my patients are all types. I have some very old and feeble ones... some alzheimer's.... some schizophrenia ones, some very badly affected by arthritis....some are self suffiecient ..... some need total care.

They range from age 50 to 99....

Is this a small home that you work in or a larger home?

There are over 300 residents (I think) where my dad lives but they are in smaller groups around 30 to 40 in each area. They have there own dining room and family room/activity rooms in each area.

Sounds like you've got a little bit of everything. Must make life interesting.

We have about a little over 250 residents... I am in charge of two halls.. one with 10 and the other with 20 residents.

I guess it would be considered small? :confused3

We seperate the diningrooms... the residents that can feed themselves go to one and then we have another diningroom for the ones who need help.

Oh, it is very interesting. I find myself smiling and laughing everyday. ;) Other times I go home wondering if I will ever end up like that and be dependent on others.

We have a married couple in there but they are in seperate rooms. The husband is really not there anymore :guilty: but the wife is but needs help with daily living activities. She stays with him all day and talks to him. It's very heartwarming and sad at the same time. I find myself wondering what will become of me in the future ..what will become of my husband.. who will visit me... etc.... :confused3

Makes you think....

Oh Cally...so good to see you here & hope you had a wonderful Easter!!! We sure miss you but tptally understand how you need to give up some DIS time to spend with the boys....
your stories remind me of my high school & college years when i worked in the local nursing homes....it was interesting for sure....but you know all quite rewarding...altho never easy when you lose a patient....

Yeah I know what you mean.

Do your residents get a lot of visitors?

Easter was good! Hope yours was as well.

I have lost one all ready to old age. It was her time though so it was more of a relief because she can now rest in peace. She was in a lot of pain her last few days.

Working in the home has it's ups and downs. I'm thankful for my CNA's who do most of the hardwork.

Yeah I know what you mean.

Do your residents get a lot of visitors?

There are a few who get visitors regularly and there are a lot who I've never seen get a visitor the 4weeks I've been there. :guilty:

One of my patients son brought me some brownies and cupcakes this past Friday. He comes every night so I've gotten to know him and his mom.

I really enjoy it...I just stress out everytime I have to call the doctor to tell him about labs or ask about orders.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Those are fantastic! My dad's been into model aircraft since the 1930's, and just completed building a Stearman Biplane with and actual radial engine he had purchased from some dealer in Japan. He dosn't fly them too often, being 85 his eyes and hands don't react like they used to. Flying them takes a LOT of skill, and I'm sure the both of have fun when you travel. When you have purchased your tow vehicle, and begin to travel, let me know I'll be waiting in front of my house, bags packed ready to go.:rolleyes1

It really takes a special person to be a health care provider, something I could never do. I'm really glad you're out there providing your services.princess:

Good Mornin TK'ers!

Sun is out but there is frost!:confused3

Happy Easter all! I do have a thing for candy, and really have to stay away from it. UNC... a 20 lb ham? Just think of what you can do with the leftovers.... bean soup is the first thing I can think of, so just make a pot and I'll bring some fresh baked bread.

Had Extra Company last night.....5 extra people (total 15)! And STILL gave 1/2 of it to my neice when she went home! 20 lbs of HAM is ALOT of HAM!

Hey UNC did ya ever contact Sharon for info about Boardwalk?
Not yet!

Very typical in the nursing field. Just last week, when Mom was in the Drs office, the nurse was complaining that when a certain Dr calls their office on the phone, IF they dont pick up the phone in 2 rings he then calls THEIR Dr up and complains.:headache:

:wave2:

Have a great day all!!!!
:wave2: Back...I C U!
