Who else is excited for The Princess and The Frog?

I have not bought a new Disney animated film on dvd since Lilo and Stitch. I have not bought a Disney soundtrack since Mulan in '98. I used to get them every year like clockwork! You can't even imagine how much I am anticipating this film! It has been way too long since we've had a new fairytale or musical. Not to mention, it's traditional hand drawn animation which I've always thought had a more appealing look to it. It takes place in America in the jazz age- how fun is that?? And it's a transformation story...I love transformation stories. I also love that the two main leads don't fall instantly in love and have to work towards love much like Belle and Beast. I love that Tiana is a modern woman who works hard to get her dreams- it's nice to see Disney add a little sidenote to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" that you have to do more than just dream to get there.

It's a really sad state when someone known for years as a huge Disney fan has stopped buying or even seeing Disney movies when I used to eagerly await each new one that came out. Treasure Planet, Journey to Atlantis, Dinosaur, Chicken Little....I saw once each. Home on the Range and Meet the Robinsons I didn't see at all! I've enjoyed all of Pixar's releases, but I only liked 2 enough to own. This coming from a person who saw Aladdin in theaters 3 times and countless times on home video! I miss the era of The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. I've been waiting years for a return, and The Princess and the Frog is exactly what I've hoped for! I've also noticed in recent years a serious lack of female driven stories, among both Disney and Pixar. Ratatouille has only one female character in the whole story! None of the main characters in Up are female except the bird whom we don't even find out is a girl until later, although one could argue that Ellie is a character as well.

Huzzah for The Princess and the Frog! And BTW, Tiana isn't just the first African American princess, she's the first AMERICAN princess! (She's also the first modern one!)

I'm excited, probably more than anything because it's a musical! I love Pixar (see avatar), but I miss the good old-fashioned honest-to-goodness Disney musicals. And I can tell you, while I was always interested in this, the thing that really got me excited was seeing the clips of Dr. Facilier's song. When he belts out, "Are you reaaaaady!" - oh, yeah!

At the D23 Expo I was able to see the first 30 minutes. It is hilarious. And wait until you see the cat!

I'm very excited for this movie. I like the old-school look of the animation -- it just has that classic Disney feel. And it's always wonderful to add another Princess to the mix. :)

I'm also excited about the Christmas Carol movie!!

Count me in as one who is very excited to see it! I agree, some of the more recent Disney movies haven't been as good as those classics (I also have never seen several of the movies you mentioned).

I'll have to see what the soundtrack is like but it is very tempting.

We are very excited for the premiere as well! Like others have said, it seems more like the classic Disney animated movies from when I was a child. I'm not sure who is more excited about it, me or my DDs!princess:
