Who else is becoming obsessed with trip planning?!!

I AM OBSESSED!!!!!!!

Yes, I admit it. I was getting nervous reading this thread but then I saw that I'm not the only guy in the bunch. :teeth:

I've been planning and planning and planning. I love it! My DW has long been tired of hearing about it. My DD4 is as excited as I am, so we watch our WDW DVD (Where Magic Lives) as often as we can.

I, too, downloaded the Disney font. I even put together a 36 page color booklet that I took to Kinko's (now it's FedEx Kinko's) for double-sided copies. I used a clear binder and gave copies to all 7 people going on our trip (my parents, the in-laws, etc).

I started the booklet with a history of WDW including Walt's version of EPCOT. I even included the link to EPCOT promo he made before his death. I talk about the size of the property and each park.

I have a section for each park. And each park has sub-sections for each land (MK has 7 sub-sections, EPCOT has 2, etc).

Basically, I took this website and condensed it into book form.

In the back I included a spreadsheet that lists everything we could possibly do, the prices for tickets, a planning calendar.

And I loved every minute of. Now I'm counting down the days to 2 weeks in the Wonderful World of Disney!

Also, for the lady whose husband served in Afghanistan, please tell him thank you for his service to our country. It is very much appreciated.

I have notebooks, planners, binders, folders, passporter, UG and I joined tourguidemike. I check these boards at least 8-10 times a day. I have printed out journals. Scribbled notes on peices of paper. I have it all in a tote bag that goes everywhere I go. I think when the trip is over I may need a rehab center for WDW withdrawal. Or I could just start planning my next trip. :cheer2: :earsgirl:

DW swears you've been looking in my briefcase! :) She says that is the exact contents of my case. LOL. :rotfl:

Gee, it's so nice to know DH (SkipperBubba pirate: ) and I aren't the only loonies running around planning with alarming detail and regularity. :teeth:

We (doombuggybabe :drinking1) aren't THAT bad. Just obsessive in reading the guidebooks even though we've been there multiple times. Oh, and planning what we're going to eat three months ahead (Thanks, Debs, for all the menus)

Can't wait to get there again!

Hi, I am a Disney addict. I am also completely obsessed. We just got back and I can't stop!
:earsboy: I'm now trying to find friends who are going so I can "help" them plan! I am also on the boards daily so I don't miss anything and we are not going back for 22 months!! :hourglass

Ok, I'm in the club too!! DH is soo tired of hearing about our trip. Worst part is that we were CM's so we really don't need to plan. I have an excel file that has 5 worksheets, budget, schedule (all color-coded), park hours, rental car, and food budget with all of our PS. The next 5 weeks will be loooong!! :cool1:

yep! I'm a compulsive disney planner! Can't seem to help myself! I am always looking for a better deal or a good tip to make the trip more magical! My husband says I'm obsessed (and he's right but I'll never admit it :rotfl: )

Yes, Sign me up for the club. It's all I do plan, plan and more planning. I have little note book with all my ps written out, reservation numbers, Flight numbers and whatever else. I look on this board all the time. Before I found this board I knew nothing of these magical postcards or codes. Now I just want one so bad. My father in law knows someone who works for Disney and the travel agents. So he gave us all these books for are trip and told my father in law to call him when we are one week from are trip. Why? I don't know. Hopefully it's something good. But It's driving me crazy.

I've been a compulsive trip planner for years now and yes, I plan this way for any trip, not just disney trips.

Right now, I'm planning a September trip so I have a manilla folder here at my desk at work and print things out as I come across them, dining plan cheat sheet, park hours, menus for places I'm going to have PS's, etc.

I also use Excel and plan my days then print them out on Disney paper and hole punch them into my manilla folder. I also have a calendar printed out on Disney paper for the month I'm going to Disney.

What is funny to me is that I ALWAYS have this printout of what park on which day, etc. and guess what??? once at Disney I hardly ever use it but I still keep making them up - I think just to pass the time until the vacation rolls around, LOL!!!

I too spend a lot of time during the day checkin the Dis - just in case there is something really important I don't want to miss it.

DH and I decided 2 weeks ago that our next trip would be in 2007 - just waiting for the kiddos to get a little bit older. So ever since I've been on the boards constantly! I've already decided where we're staying, PS's, which Character Meals to do, how much money we should be saving each month. I showed him the spreadsheet the other day. He's just shaking his head. Yup, I'm obsessed!

Ok, I am wanting to know also.. :bounce: ..what could it be GillieRose!!! I gotta know too!! :Pinkbounc

I'm with all of you. :earsgirl: To me, part of the fun is the planning. What better place to start than on this wonderful site. :earboy2:

Hi!

My name is Phil, and I'm a planaholic!

I have two file cabinets with just Disney and WDW stuff, plus 5 bookcases with books, magazines, disney memorabilia, etc.

Each time we go to WDW, I make a new "guidebook," with everything from travel and resort info, complete ADR's for each day, and a daily park plan. My family used to think I was nuts - they're beginning to enjoy the planning just as much a I do.

94 days to go until our 34th trip! Cannot wait! :hourglass

Hi Phil,

I'm right there with you, though much less organized. WDW trip planning is my favorite hobby and form of recreation.
:flower:  :flower:

My mother...let me tell ya. She is on this website trying to plan our trip for next MAY 24 hours a day. Now, we don't go all out with " Okay. Buzz Lightyear ride, we must be there at 6:12 PM. Ends in 10 minutes. Pirates of the Carribean ride, 6:15 Pm." No wayyyy. We just do a simple "AK monday, MK tuesaday, EPCOT wednesdday...etc" What she spends planing for hours is our ADR's.

Hi Whimsey,

For me it's a kind of hobby too.

In my opinion, the best thing is to know about scheduled rehabs, so it usually avoids disappointments when we get there to notice that a ride will be closed ... :guilty:

My Dh would say I've become obsessed, I would say I'm just being prepared :) . I have assured him that after the 90 day mark and I've made all our reservations than I will be on the dis boards a lot less (well he's home anyways  ).
