Who else is becoming obsessed with trip planning?!!

I feel the same way. These boards only add to the madness. Sometimes the planning is as much fun as the trip (yeah right..who am I kidding). I too have a large folder with all this info in it. If anyone goes near it I freak. hope everyone has a terrific time :rotfl2:

I have a book that I have made on the computer and as of yesterday it hit 186 pages! :earseek: I am totally obsessed and I still have a year and 7 days to go. Can you imagine how big the book is going to be by then.

Just a little for food for thought for all serious planners. For all of my major trips( I go alot these days...52 days this year), I make a homemade planner for the trip. I write down my itinerary, all ps's,etc starting from when we leave home til we return. My good friend(Pooh'sPal from these boards) then takes it and adds all kinds of clip art, photos, stickers or whatever fun stuff we have and we take it to Staples and get it printed and spiral bound to take on the trip and write in as a journal and have as a keepsake. It is such fun to do and helps pass the waiting time for the trip and you'll laways remember everything you do, what works and what doesn't. ::MinnieMo

Great tips and yes I've joined the obsessed. I looked at the Magic Gathering Planner on Disney site last night and stayed up until 1:30 in the morning "playing" with it. I thought I loved Disney before. Then I found DIS :), now I can share my *ahem* passion!

oh yeah,,I got it WAY bad,Days off(like today) I am on here and the WDW site and (GULP...uuhmmm..dare I say or maybe should whisper..the OTHER forums like this one)..I also have TOUR GUIDE MIKE....I carry around a variety of WDW planning guides,I have a special notbook(pooh on cover)(actually a student planner that I got for a BUCK at borders) that I write all my notes on WITH MICKEY pens ONLY,,,,,,,and a page a day calnder that I write notes on the back of the "old" days with notes and tips from here.....I am watching Disney movies, cheking ebay for Disney stuff for us to take when we go..ok..i will stop now,,,,because there is more but I am feeling a little emabarassed right now,,,so.....yeah..I need help. :guilty:

Hi! :wave2: My name is Gabby, and I am addicted to planning! (not making light of AA, NA or any of the other wonderful groups out there!)

My husband often suggests that I find some kind of support group to belong to for my problem! lol! But I remind him, that you need to "want to quit" and I dont!

I love every minute of my mad planning!
After our last trip with our extended group that included my bro and his fam and my mom and dad, my dad told me I should start a travel business type thing where I did all this and got paid! I would love to get paid to do all this, but I dont think it would be nearly as fun doing it for someone else!
Plus, I have realized that it truly exhausts me!
I spend way too much time on here!

But on the flip side, our vacations are made soooo much better by my obsesive planning! :cloud9:
I too have notebooks, folders, spreadsheets, guide books, you name it!
So happy to see that I am not alone in this! :grouphug:
I am rather anal about certain things, and have often been referred to as a perfectionist, but nothing in my life comes close to my addiction to planning our disney trips!
Can we say OCD? (obsessive compulsive disorder)
Gabby :rolleyes1

Not right now, since I"m not currently planning a trip (sad as that is..lol) but as soon as we made reservations for our recent December trip, I was consumed with planning! LOL DH used to make fun of me for it, but was quite impressed on our trip that I knew so much!!

Okay, here is my confession. I downloaded the "disney" font and in excel have planned each day by 1/2 hour increments in the disney font so I can make the "Most" of our trip. I still have 91 days, and have not started my ps's but those will be added to the daily sheets. I have also started printing my mousekeeping labels. I will be getting together my daily medication, putting it in a snack size :earseek: zip lock bag by day and putting a label with disney font and stickers for each day there. But, I am NOT a type A personality.. right?

ok...more stuff...hehhehe....I am taking index cards into the parks with each days tour plans,,sounds a little normal right?NNOOOOOO,,,,they are color coded,CROSS refrenced(by park, rating,TYPE of thing it is,,food,ride,show..etc)....on the back goes disney stickers,,then they are "laminated(covered in packing tape)...then put into a ziplock bag....I only wish i could find BLACK index cards for Downttown disney...I was also thinking ot using postcards,,BUT I like the "lines;' on the index cards..............

How's this for obsessed...
I have been on short term disability for 2 months now (surgery) and I have spent almost all day, everyday on the DIS boards. Thats about 12 hours a day X 7 days a week X 2 months = 672 hours in the past 2 months. (Thats equals out to the same as 28 days straight non-stop, no eating or sleeping) ACK!

Also, I have a breifcase with EVERYTHING that I have related to this Disney vacation in it. I have every document that WDW sent me, I have all of my trip planning books (Birnbaum's, etc...) I have my AAA tour book for WDW and the one from them for Florida. I also have calendars with sticky notes all over them, notes on various papers from myself. spreadsheets that I have made for our dining, etc.... I can hardly close it now.

I just dont want to forget anything while planning this. This trip is the most important thing going on in my family's life right now. I want to leave nothing to chance. :) Especially since it is the first "real" vacation my family will be going on. We've gone other places like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN, Kings Island, OH. But this is major. I want everything to be perfect for it. :)

Its pretty bad when all day even at work I am consumed in DISNEY planning! I have a pretty laid back job where at down time I can plan. But I find myself rushing to get through my work so I can spend the down time on these boards and planning! I plan on starting a notebook here soon! We are going May 19-26 and I am hoping since it is the week before Memorial Day we get lucky and find minimal crowds. But we went last year May 12-16 and we found alot of school kids! :confused3 But we only went to MK and that was on a Saturday! I am not making that mistake again! :teacher:

:earsgirl: :earsboy:

Too funny! I was thinking about starting a similar thread. This has become a sickness, but I like it LOL The problem is, I'm a nursing student and I can't stop planning long enough to study! And since my kids don't know we're going, I can't do it when they're around... Ack, the withdrawals!

Jen--
OMG surprise trips are the best! My mom surprised us all (including my dad) in 1995 with a Christmas trip to Disney! We were originally supposed to go up to a cabin in Wisconsin for Christmas, but had a limo driver come to our door and hand us a Mickey Mouse stocking with a note saying that due to a massive snow storm we were being diverted to DisneyWorld. It was soooo awesome. They will have an awesome time, especially if they dont know its coming, then they have all that beginning excitement to take with them right away! (If that makes any sense!) :bounce: Congrats, you guys are going to have an amazing time, and you will be hooked on Disney there after....just look at us!!!! :rotfl:

The planning is almost as fun as the trip itself!

I am so obsessed with trip planning that I also obsess trip planning for friends and family members and I think I'm driving them crazy!! I've got a sister going in December and a good friend going in May. Sometimes I have just just bite my tongue!!
