Who else does not like waiting at baggage claim?

I am sure I am not the only person, but I wonder who else does not like to wait at baggage claim & is finally relieved when all their bags have come out? I have also noticed that my families bags always come out towards the end, so that also does not help the waiting part. The only time they came out right away is when we flew Bunsiness Class & they were tagged priority so they come out 1st & a few years ago guess we were lucky, because one time while waiting at Tampa International Airport our bags were one of the 1st comes to come out.

And that would be why DME is so incredibly successful and popular!!! I don't think you will find one single person who actually enjoys waiting for their luggage.

it's a reality of travel.

If you don't like waiting, you have choices. Don't check your luggage. Ship your luggage ahead. Use DME. Use the time to get a coffee and freshen up.

It's a non issue for me.

I flew into MCO a few weeks ago on Southwest... it was late, and I was tired, and my luggage is always the last one off the plane.

Amazingly enough, my bag was the FIRST ONE on the belt!!! It was the most amazing thing ever!! :)

Tyler, nobody ever owns that 'first bag' that comes off! ;)

well, ok, it's often mine but I'm not going to admit that here

That's true but not ever family like mine uses DME.

Then I guess they are doomed to wait. Of course, those of us who use DME wait but at our resorts.
Hey Tyler....were you up north visiting?? If so, you had some pretty nice weather.

I doubt anyone likes to wait in baggage claim. My biggest worry if it doesn't come out with the first bunch that it's lost. As much as I've traveled for work & pleasure, it has only happened twice, both times when I switched flights due to delays. The first time it was on the next plane (I chose to wait 2 hours), the second time it was delivered the next day. Both times were at my home airport, thankfully.

Waiting at baggage claim is not a big deal. Take the time after you get off your aircraft to use the restroom, go to starbucks, get your bearings, rent your car, browse the pamphlet racks. Whatever.

Life is much too much too short to stress over a wait you *know* will happen.

At MCO I stop at Seattle's Best, at IAD I stop at the juice bar, at ORD I stop at Starbucks, at DEN I stop at Seattle's Best, at SEA I stop at the independent coffee bar.

Get the picture?

Ahhhh... On the east coast, I stop at Dunkin Donuts, in MSP, I stop at caribou coffee, otherwise it's bucky's for me! Nothing like getting off the plane, stretching my legs, unstretching my bladder, and getting a nice hot cuppa joe!

What I really hate is when my husband's bag is the FIRST one off and mine appears 30 minutes later, when we checked them at the same time. Or recently when my husband's bag was one of the first off and mine never appeared! (This was on US Airways). It was delivered to our house 24 hours later.

DD's biggest thrill is spotting our luggage coming on the belt! We don't mind it at all. I make sure to have a skycap there and all we do it point it out and he gets if for you. I have never had a problem with waiting for our luggage. At least then I know if it isn't there. With DME you have no idea if anything is missing til it is delivered to your room. I'd rather wait 20 minutes and see it myself.

I use the restroom, get a pop, make a phone call, take a few pictures, walk to the baggage area, pick up my bags, often already taken off the turntable and set on the side for me. :woohoo:

Our last trip was one of the few times it got to me.

We were delayed in MCO for about 2 hours,Then they couldn't get the door open at BWI so they couldn't get to the bags. The bags were soaked from sitting in the rain at MCO

Oh and did I mention that I lost my keys to my Jeep that was in a long term parking lot.I had DM bring me another set of keys so she was going to take a few bags and DD with her.

It was around1:00am before everything came out and they had my keys at the parking lot(left either on shuttle or ground ) so all worked out but what a wait.

Normally no big deal DW goes to smoke and DD and myself reflect on the great time we had.

This is where luggage with water-resistant lining comes in very handy.

I agree we made out alright with one getting just a little damp. I had to buy a new bag at the outlets and it held up as dry as dry.

I also use the spacestorage bags as well to protect the cloths.

Last month I flew DTW - MDW to MCO on SWA. Our flight getting out out of DTW was delayed an hour and by the time we landed at MDW, our connection was due to take off. The FA made an annoucement that the couple that was connecting to MCO needs to book it to gate 19 as they were holding the plane for us. We were the last ones on and we were pushing back before we had our seat belts on. I was totally convinced that there was NO WAY that our luggage made it on that plane!!! I was also saying a silent prayer of thanksgiving that I had packed my overnight things and change of clothes in DH's carry on.

Low and behold, we get down to baggage claim at MCO and our bags were the first ones off. Gotta luv SWA!

I don't fly that often but it always seems that that first bag makes a couple of trip around the baggage carrousel.

Since we will rent a car what we do is I go and take care of the paper work while DW waits for the luggage. Usually we are both ready at the same time.

I flew into Chicago-O'Hare last night with two checked bags. One of my bags was the very first to appear on the baggage claim conveyor belt for our flight. My other bag was the very last bag.

I hate baggage claim.

I love being able to bypass baggage claim when using Magical Express.
