So what is happening in Tejas! I've been to Houston and Galveston several years ago. BIG city!
DS17 sent his SAT scores to Univ. of Texas....... he just knows Texas had great marching bands and that is his life! I think he'll be staying closer to home!
I saw this quote, so I wanted to answer it before

I love Texas....I spent my undergrad years at USC (in Los Angeles), and while I loved my school like a nut, I did miss Texas (my whole family is here). I actually just got into Duke, so I will be attending there this fall, so I will be moving to the East coast, and I have never been to NC!

But I am pretty adventuresome and independent, so I am excited about it (I will only be there for a year and a half). Anyway, my whole fam are Texas A&M graduates, so we have that whole rivalry thing going with UT, haha. But all kidding aside, UT is a great school, and it just keeps getting harder and harder to get into. It is even more difficult is you are from out of state. But since your son has something to offer the school (i.e. marching band, sports, etc.), that is a definite plus

. DO warn your son though going off far from home for college is such an adjustment. It definetely was for me my freshman year. I was very homesick at times, as our family is VERY close. I made it though

. Also, Austin is a beautiful city, with great eclectic shops, great music scence, etc., but it is fairly liberal. I call it "little L.A." Haha. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck to your son and whatever he may choose!
