My Mom and I were recently at WDW and noticed at night the lit up white large window in the castle. The castle would change colors but the window in the middle always remained white. Any signifcance?

Well... I'm not sure if im answering your question correctly but if I'm correct that is the room that was supposed to be Walt Disney's. He was supposed to have a room inside the castle. The room is still there but I don't think it has any uses. The reason the light is always on could be like "the spirit of Walt Disney" is always watching the guests enjoy his idea and creation? I'm not too sure. The more I think about it the more what I just said sounds like I could be right.

That could be. I know in Disneyland, they DO leave the lights on in Walt's old apartment over the firehouse. It is the way he left it and that is their way to say that Walt is always there.

It was in the plans to build an apartment for Walt over the castle, but it was never actually built. From what I have read, the space was used first for telecommunications, then for storage and now for a "green room" (like a waiting room0 for performers for the castle shows. Also, I have read that the area is over the restaurant which doesn't fit the "window on the front of the castle.
I'm wondering if you are talking about the window in the middle of this picture:

The picture in the window is supposed to change back and forth between the different Disney park castles. I've heard it is sometimes not working correctly and I wonder if it's just a "white window" when it isn't working.

That's a great way of thinking of it. It seems like it's similar to Main St. The last building's window facing Cindy's Castle has Walt's name on it, so it's like he's always looking at her castle. :sad1: Thinking about this long enough will make me tear up.

We wondered the same thing. My sister thought it had to be Walt's apartment but I was pretty sure he never had anapartment in the castle. I like to think of it as Cindy's room. Doesn't it show a light on in Cindy's castle in Philermagic and someone flying in the room and Cinderella yelling? Or am I just making this up???

Right...Walt died 5 years before WDW opened.

I read on this board (or perhaps another one) that in the movie, as the castle gets dark the night after the ball, the Prince stays up all night and it shows the dark castle with one window lit. But, personally, I like the Spirit of Walt explanation better...

Yes, Walt passed away before WDW opened- I don't think they would have built an apartment for him, unless for sentimental reasons....

I've been there when it has been lit and other times when it is not on. I would imagine it is just a room used for something and sometimes they forget to turn off the light.

Believe it or not there were plans for an apartment, and yes it is in there. There is even a hidden elevator. Now it is just used as storage.

That's interesting- do you have a source where you found this information? I'd like to see it, because that's sorta cool ::yes::

The "apartment" area was proposed to be available for use by Disney FAMILY members.

But it was never finished-out for that purpose.

I bet that's where they keep Walt's frozen body.

:rotfl2: I thought this part was more funny than the actual joke.

There were plans for an apartment. Walt was able to plan for part of the Walt Disney World Resort and if I remember correctly he and his family had planned on building a room for Walt so that he could live in his world. When he died, they stopped building it. That is what I remember, I may be wrong. I do know for sure though that there were plans for an apartment. ::yes::

:rotfl2: Did you know that people actually believe that his body is frozen!? That is known as the biggest myth about Walt Disney yet. There are many more but I shall spare the teeth grinding stories lol.
