Which swimsuit for resort pool?

I wear a one piece of swimsuit. Now I'm a size 2 or 4 but after seven kids NO WAY I'd ever wear a bikini again. The weight might be the same but it sure has shifted!

I want to clarify my tankini response...I know I shouldn't let people bother me( esp people i will never see again) but man the people at SAB were BRUTAL on this pooh sized woman in a bikini..I mean flat out nasty and laughing right at her.I had to yell at my DH because he laughed too. Some of the comments I heard said were so mean I would never have thought people could be capable of it.So though I would wear a bikini in my yard, I won't in public pools.BTW, the poor woman left the pool in TEARS...I felt awful for her.

FWIW... I am not big (size 8/10) but I've had a few kids & am now over 40 - so you know how that goes ladies!

When I'm traveling to Mexico & the Caribbean I have absolutely no qualms about wearing a bikini but would absolutley NOT consider wearing one outside of my backyard here in the States. The attitude regarding body types/images here in the US is horrible & unrealistic. It's a shame IMO.:sad2:

That's a really sad story. I'm surprised that people were so vocal about it :confused3 VERY mean.
I'm surprised too, b/c I have spent a LOT of time by various Disney pools :rotfl: and I've never witnessed anything like that. People seem to live and let live in that department.

you nail it! I think that women are more critical than their male counterparts. We, woman, view our bodies though a "funny" glass(always distorted in the mid-sections) :sad2:

Yeah In all my years going I have never experienced something like that before this past Sept. In general ( not just at disney)I find people are just becoming less pleasant and more mean.I can tell you that I saw who started it and it was a bunch of older teen girls and their boyfriends. From there it kind of spread around the sinking sands area.I definitely do not have a thick enough skin to deal with that though

I'm sure I would get that same response from people if I were to wear a Speedo with my Pooh sized frame. :rotfl2:

Wow! thanks for all the responses...many of which made me laugh so much I pee'd a little...I loved the comment about getting a two piece so you can "relieve" yourself quicker:rotfl2:

So...I did a spray tan before trying on swimsuits...and I have to say...it was the most brilliant idea I think I've ever had:rotfl:

I ended up with a bikini...I don't know how many years I've got left...so might as well while I still can:goodvibes

last on my list are more shorts...any good ideas on where I can get some that look good, feel good AND are comfy? I have a tiny frame, but usually if shorts fit my waist, then it looks like I've pooped my pants and lost my hips and if I get shorts that fit my butt, then they're too tight on my waist...drives me crazy!

For me if the figure is nice I prefer a bikini. But then this is coming from a male's perspective. :rotfl2:

Goofy4prez: Oh...you're vote absolutely does not count! :rotfl2:
Here's what I'll be packing: the new 5-piece tankini/bikini/one-piece...whatever you want to call it. Have you seen this new swimsuit...it has a tankini, FULL coverage bottoms, a turtleneck, leggings, and a bag to put over my head! :rotfl::rotfl: Really, I don't think I have ever worn a binkini...maybe as a kid...but I can't remember that far back. But, after two c-sections and just being plain old lazy...I don't think I will be plopping down any cash for a bikini! I'll save that money and spend it on a dole whip, thank you very much! ;)

Are your other four children older? I just see three in your siggy. We have 9 children, so I always love to "meet" other moms of many.

Yes the oldest four are: DD (32) married -two children and expecting a third in September; DS (26), DS (24) and DS (23) -all three have finished college -DS (26) and DS (24) are working full time and are getting an apartment together in June, DS (23) is just finishing his first year of law school.

There was a twelve year space between my 4th and 5th. I had cancer and chemo and was told I couldn't get pregnant -SUPRISE!!!! We didn't want dd (11) to feel like an only child so we started all over again. Since I was almost 40 we had to really hurry up!

I wouldn't trade any of them for the world -you beat me though -9. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Last year we did a huge grand gathering. We took all the kids, grandchildren, and my mom (who was celebrating her 80th birthday) to Disney (BC) for a week. It was the best money we ever spent. We gave them an all expense paid trip for Christmas. We probably won't be able to do that again for a very long time but we sure made a lot of memories.

No help here with the shorts because I have the same but oppsite problem. If they fit in the butt and thighs the waist is WAY too big. It is such a pain in the BUTT!!! LOL

But seriously, you see all types at the pools! I mean ALL TYPES! Whatever you're comfortable in.
This is so true. Wear whatever you feel hot in! :thumbsup2

I usually pull out the bikini. I'm pretty in shape but certainly no Victoria's Secret model! :rotfl:No worries- just have a nice time!

Just keep in mind that you are going to a FAMILY resort, not a couples only place.

Shoot...that means I'll have to leave my topless, thong at home;) Just joking!
My DH went shopping with me, and I found a tasteful bikini. I also went shopping today and found some fantastic shorts...that fit!!!! yay! Next on my list is some good walking shoes/sandals for my 8 year old DD.

I do the tankinis. They are just easier getting in and out of the pool with my DD-you don't have to check and make sure stuff is covered!

I have to second the poster that warned of the strings on bikinis coming untied...Prior to being married in my early 20's, I held my cousin's 2 yr old in a pool. He untied BOTH sides of the bottom of my suit...and it wasn't like I could drop him in the middle of the pool and tie them both...he couldn't swim. I had to make my way to the side of the pool trying to hold the bottom on which was very difficult. It's funny now, but not so much at the time. :goodvibes

I don't think I've ever really seen a problem at WDW with this. I have yet to see someone go topless(excluding the lost bikini top at a waterslide), I still have not seen a thong at WDW(again excluding a water slide weggie), and rarely have I ever seen a Speedo. Not saying anyone has not ever seen this, I just haven't.;)

Actually I think the "adult" parents do much worse of a job watching what they let their 8-18 year old princesses wear than what they put on their own body.
