Ok. Trying to problem solve. MIL is unexpectedly going to stay in our room. We WERE staying at the Swan....$182/night....and I was upgrading with points to CL. However, Mother in law snores, so this sounds like not a good plan....do want to stay at a Starwood hotel b/c I like accruing point...so has anyone stayed at one of the Sheratons nearby? The Swan/Dolphin are SO convenient I hate to give that up, but I do like to sleep too.....so I'm thinking about Sheraton Safari or Sheraton Vistana Resorts...but am a bit confused about one on Vistana Center Drive and one on International Drive...but both called Sheraton Vistana?

The idea here is having a separate sleeping area - or a balcony big enough for my sleeping bad :hyper:

Too bad about the MIL/Swan thing. The Swan is a nice hotel in a great location.

Cheer up, though. I've stayed at the Vistana Villages on Int'l Dr. (the other one is Vistana Resort). It is a really nice resort with a huge pool (though not quite as big as the grotto pool which is quite spread out). All of the villas overlook the pool area. The 2 bdrm villa is lovely with a big whirlpool tub in the master bdrm. There are tv's in both bdrms and of course in the livingroom. They all have a screened-in balcony of the livingrm and a connecting door to the masterbdrm. There is also a full kitchen and washer and dryer which are nice to have even if you have no plans to cook or wash.

The resort is located at the south end of Int'l Dr - away from all of the hustle and bustle. It is not at all what you picture when you think of that area. Nearby you've got a big grocery store and the Premium Shopping Outlets complex. It's about a 10 - 15 min drive to the parks.

If you've decided to stay off-site you certainly won't regret staying at this place.

I know you want a Starwood property for the points, but I think you'll be better off with 2 rooms on Disney property - especially if you have only one vehicle. That way MIL can come and go as she pleases on Disney transportation.

If you're trying to get Sheraton Points, you may want to make sure your rate at the Vistana will be eligible. Last year I was moved from the Safari to the Vistana because the Safari's water had to be cut off for repairs, and the people at the Vistana were pretty rude and said that my rate did not qualify for points. The Vistana was nice, however. I had a huge room with a jacuzzi tub, screened porch, living room and full kitchen. There was very limited room service, however. I only stayed there one night and arrived very late and left early.

We really like the Sheraton Studio City. It's farther away than the Safari, but the theming is nice and all of the beds are queen size, I think.
