My sister and I are driving the kids down from London in just over two weeks, probably leaving early Sunday morning and getting to WDW mid-afternoon on Monday. I had assumed that we would be taking the I75 since that's what Mapquest suggests and I know that it's the most direct route. But now I keep reading about how horrible traffic is on this route and I don't want that to add hours onto our drive. Is this still the best route or is there another that I should take that will take less time?

Hey! We drive from London during March Break and have never run into crazy traffic (except for once in the middle on the night on the way home-it was weird).

I like the route on the I-75, nice rest stops, traffic flows well so you get there in good time!

We'll be there the same time (flying down Wednesday morning!).

Safe travels!!

I75 for sure.

We have driven it a few times, straight through. We leave next week and are driving a huge part, to Byron, GA on the first day. We decided to stop this time since dh nor I are big sleepers in the van and we don't want to arrive at WDW exhausted.

Last time we drove, we went to Myrtle Beach after WDW. I didn't really enjoy the ride through WV, etc from Myrtle Beach. Yes, it is scenic, but I prefer I75 and the rest stops along that way.

We are from Cambridge, ON.

I'd still take I-75. However, since you'll be travellling on a Sunday, just be aware of the lane closures in the Cincinnati area. When you'll about 20 miles north of Cincinnati, pay attention to the overhead signs whih gives traffic conditions. It may take you around the I-275 bypass.

I travelled to and from Dayton, OH yesterday with little problems. However, depending on the lane closures and the time of day, you might run into bad traffic. Depending on what time you reach Cincinnati, you might run into ballgame traffic. The Reds are at home that day.

I-275 is a fairly good option if there is severe traffic. It will take you about 20 miles out of the way. If you stay on I-75, it's about 22-23 miles from the I-75/275 interchange in Ohio to the I-75/275 interchange in Kentucky. If you take I-275 east, it's about 41 miles from the two I-75 interchanges. If you take I-275 west, it's about 43 miles fro the two I-75 interchanges. I do know there is also construction on I-275 in KY. However, it shouldn't be a hassle.

You should do fine. I think the Cincinnati construction might be the worst on I-75 right now.

Thank you so much for the heads up. I don't think that we will encounter ball traffic since we will get to Cincinnati around early afternoon (evening game that night). But the construction is something to keep in mind. Do I need to have the I 275 route already mapped out, or are the detour signs easy to follow?

I'm not sure if it's signed as a detour (likely not), but I-275 is essentially a circle around the Cincinnati area. The interchanges on both ends will be signed.

If you choose to take the bypass, once you hit I-275, you can go either way and you'll end up back at I-75. Might be a good idea to look up a local radio station in the area to listen for traffic reports as you approach the I-275 interchange to decide if it's worth bypassing I-75 or not.

Yesterday when we drove through I-75 in Cincinnati we had no problems with any construction, although maybe that was because we were there early in the morning.
