While VWL is our home resort and our favorite, I'd stay in any of them without a second thought. It depends on our mood and the season. VWL seems just right in the winter, when the fire is lit. We love to rent boats on Bay Lake (both the small ones and pontoons) and relax, but we don't spend a lot of time in the parks anyway. It's very, very relaxing there. Some people don't care for the rustic decor and dark colors. And we also enjoy riding the boats to MK.
No one can tell you about SSR yet, since it won't open until May. The model unit is reportedly very, very nice.
OKW is very "Florida" and quite relaxing and laid back. Rooms are huge and it's great to be able to park right outside your room door. If you don't have a car, this won't be a big plus for you. No slide at the pools, but it's reported that the main pool will have one this year. The property is large and spread out, but good bus service.
The lay out and size of the BWV, BCV, SSR and VWL rooms seems almost identical, with a few variations. BCV is similar to BWV, with a different color scheme.
If you think you'd really enjoy Stormalong Bay, BCV is the only way you can enjoy that. Lots of choices for meals in the Boardwalk area.
October - early November is a very popular time for DVC, due to Food and Wine Festival and a variety of other events. We booked the 1st week in November in early July this year and people had trouble getting OKW right after that. BCV and BWV are particularly popular due to close proximity to Epcot, so don't wait too long if you choose that area.
As you know, BWV and BCV are definitely in an area where the action is. OKW, VWL (and, I suspect SSR) seem quite relaxed and quieter. We feel like we're at Disney when at the parks or DTD but also feel like we're someplace totally different when we're at the resort.
