Every few years, we will have to find a way to spend a night or two in POR. We spent our honeymoon there, as well as our last trip (last year) before buying into DVC. I am sure that we'll have many great memories in the DVC resorts, but POR will always be special to us. It is such a great hotel!

I'd also like to stay in Fort Wilderness again someday. That is where my family would stay growing up, and we took the kids there in my parent's motor home a few years ago when they were REALLY small.

I'm so happy that we bought into DVC, but there are a few spots around the Disney property that haven't seen the last of our family!

The trip we got engaged we stayed at POR and we just went back in 08 to celebrate our "engage-a-versary". I was so bummed to see a crappy mousekeeper ruin that magic for us there. We will sure make it back though. Taking a carraige ride around looking at my ring in awe...what a great memory..:thumbsup2

For us it would have to be Coronado Springs. We stayed there a few months after the resort first opened. It was our first trip to disney since the 1970's and my kids first trip ever to Disney. Just memorable because the kids were so young and we had such a good time. Now we go nearly every year but stay at other resorts.

POR. When I decided to take the kids to WDW for their first time we stayed at POR. That resort really holds a lot of happy memories for us! :goodvibes

Grand Floridian. I stayed there on my first WDW trip in 1994 and also my oldest niece's trip in 1999. GF is about the only resort that I would giveup my BWV points for (if they buildt a DVC).

POR and we still go there once a year now, even with DVC. I have memories of doing late night swims at the quiet pool on hot summer nights... and we were there for Hurricane Frances.

POFQ. We stayed there several times before we bought into DVC. Loved the quiet and the beignets at breakfast (yummm!) We were disappointed when they closed the restaurant and when they stopped having John (sorry, don't remember his last name) for entertainment in the bar/lounge area. He was great!

Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Yacht Club. We still work them in though around our DVC stays.

I guess for nostalgia it would have to be the Fort Wilderness trailer homes, I mean, cabins. That's where we took our kids when they were young for several fun trips (anyone else remember riding on a bus full of kazoos after they handed them out at the FW character breakfast?) I remember taking our "boys" (now grown men) there recently when DS #1 graduated from college. Boy, have those FW cabins gotten smaller!:rotfl2:

What's funny is we visit the Polynesian every time we are there because we love the atmosphere and theme, BUT we have never stayed there. The only non DVC we have stayed at is Yacht Club ( we love this theme too).

We recently joined DVC but know that we will miss CBR. We love the beautiful and restful tropical theme there.

When we bought into DVC the only hotel I was sure I would miss was AKL. DVC kindly fixed that for me and now we have an AKV add on.

The only non-DVC hotel we've not stayed in that we would like to try is the Poly. We're going to have to wrap a couple of days there around a DVC stay

Another POR alumna here. We usually visit there when we are at WDW. We liked both the Magnolia Bend and Alligator Bayou themes.

The Polynesian. Eating dole Whips on the beach watching Wishes and then strolling back to the room.

POR for sure. We weren't able to travel for many years because DH was waiting for a heart transplant. His surgeon said that 6 months after his surgery we could hit the road. Since we have 3 kids, POR was the place to be with the trundle bed. They announced a 'Canadian at par' special just before Christmas so I booked it and we arrived exactly 6 months post op. It was a trip we never thought we'd be able to take. Magical, wonderful and we're going to check it out again next year.

Chalk up another one for POR. We rode out Charlie in Alligator Bayou. Directly after that I discovered the DIS :thumbsup2

For us it would be the Disney Inn (now Shades of Green). Our room (which was about the size of those at the Poly) had sliders from which we could walk directly to the pool deck, and it's the first time we stayed a full 7 nights. It's also the trip we first learned about DVC (just from little "tents" left on the table in the room - nothing on the TV at that point -1993).

Believe it or not, the values! We never did stay in the moderates, so when I think back to our pre-DVC trips, they are all at the AS resorts! We had a wonderful time there.

One year, we stayed at OKW in a 1-BR two or three times, and that's when we decided to purchase. I still enjoy staying at a value every once in a while, as it saves us on points, and brings back good memories. I have to admit, though, I miss the king bed! ;)

To the OP, this is a fun thread. Thanks for posting! :thumbsup2

I am more nostalgic for Dixie Landings!:thumbsup2
