Hi
I hope someone can help me. We will not be renting a car, and are wondering which would be cheaper transportation from the airport to Nick hotel; a shuttle or a taxi? Any information would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Amy

depends upon how many in your family. 3 or less a shuttle. 4 or more the taxis.

the taxis charges one rate.

shuttles charge per person.

you might be better off with a towncar. Yes I know more expensive. but not really - especially for a family of 4 or more.

Sorry, I guess I should have added we are a family of 4. Me, DH, ds9 and ds5. Not sure if shuttle gives break on kids, but I am doubting it. Thanks for the information!

Take a look at some town car companies on-line, then compare that with the cost of a shuttle (you can find this type of information on the Orlando tourist information site).

For us (2 adults) the town car was the best option (not the cheapest, but much more convenient than a shuttle and not much more than a taxi). We even upgraded to a stretch at a small cost and had a great time.

The shuttles to the parks are limited and scheduled. You'll be better off renting a car at the airport. It probably won't cost that much more than your transfers.

Mears will cost $100 R/T for the 4 of you. A towncar will cost about the same, a little more when you include a tip but many will include a free grocery stop.

I HIGHLY recommend using a town car service. For a family of four it will probably be cheaper than a taxi and definitely cheaper than Mears, plus they have a driver waiting for you in baggage claim, help with luggage and you leave as soon as you get in the car, no waiting for other guests or stopping off at other hotels...it's the only way to go IMHO.

I always use Murray Hill Transportation in Orlando. They are $85 R/T to most of the Disney hotels, don't know what they charge to go to the Nick hotel though. Check out their website, Marie does the bookings and she is great!
Don't know if you need a stroller, but they offer a Deluxe stroller for the length of your stay for only $20. It's a very nice stroller and one of the reasons I use Murray Hill, can't beat $20 for the length of stay!

I'm curious. How much would a rental car cost?

One time we used a taxi and I think we paid $35 each way. That was when there were only 4 of us.

Next time, we used rental car (5 of us) and we paid $85 round trip and $10 tip.

I'm just wondering if a rental would be that much more. How long are you staying for, Mrs. Wortham?

Thanks for all your suggestions. We are staying 1 week. I actually found a service called QuickSilver which is a luxury sedan with a grocery stop. They also meet us by baggage claim.
The main reason I dont want to rent a car, is I am very uncomfortable driving in a place I don't know at all, so even if it is inconvenient waiting around for a shuttle, it makes us all more comfortable doing that. Thanks to your suggestions, I am so glad to find this service....it sounds much better than a taxi!
Thanks everyone!

Sounds great! And I'm sure it is better than a taxi...........we loved our towncar experience. But I think Quicksilver is probably double the price of a taxi, so it better be nice. :teeth:

Have a great trip!! :sunny:

the price of a taxis had increased.

I think you better check your numbers again.

there are also some taxis that are operating without a license and charging very, very high fee. there was a warning on the Dis and mousesavers about these crooks.

How long are you staying?
Rent a car, they are cheap in Orlando. I stayed in January, after some research on codes and coupons we rented a standard size from national for a little over $200 for two weeks. You save money by eating away from the resorts and time by going places when/where YOU want.Check out mousesavers for advice on discount codes, also google for rental discount codes, and join all the rental car "clubs" that serve the airport and the Car Care Center at WDW.
I find it more relaxing having my own transportation, that is worth it as well.

Jim

We used Quicksilver for our last trip. The car was fantastic and the service was excellent.

I'd definately reccommend them.

get a rental the area is well marked and you can go as you want not have to wait for someone
