Which is better at MK? E-ride nite or Early entry?

I guess I need to decide which would be better for our family- E-ride night on Saturday night May17th or Early entry on Sunday morning. I'm sure it wouldn't make sense to do both. Which one would allow for the most riding?

We like EE much better, I guess it just depends on what rides you like the most. I think EE has more open, though.

It truly depends on your family. Are you the Fantasyland/Tomorrowland types? If so then the Extra Magic Hour (formerly called Early Entry) would better suit you as all of the rides in those lands are open.

Are you more a thrill ride bunch? Then I'd go for E-Ride Night as Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain and Alien Encounter are all open.

Have a great time, no matter which you choose.

Congrats on your baby to be, Sonya. Thanks, I guess I didn't realize that different rides are open. DUH! I guess that is why its called E-ride, huh? We have a group of 7, and I was thinking DH and I might bring DS and DD to E ride night and let Baby and DD2 go back to the villa with Grandparents. However, DS is 7 and is slightly embarrassed to say that he is a little scared by the big rides. We should probably stick to Extra Magic Hour and stick together. Sunday is bound to be less crowded, too, with all the hoopla going on Saturday.

Remember that EE days are pretty busy as well so you may find MK pretty darn busy by midday on that Sunday.

I would go with your quote:

"We have a group of 7, and I was thinking DH and I might bring DS and DD to E ride night and let Baby and DD2 go back to the villa with Grandparents."

Yep sounds like a plan to me - as for EE the next day, go somewhere other than MK if you cannot get up early enough or get up early go and then come back to the hotel for a swim and nap

Splash and BTMRR are so so cool at night - rode them multiple times during E-Ride night in March

thanks
Jason

Go for the E-ride night....those rides are so cool at night its a lot fun to watch other park guests get turned away cause they dont have a wristband on...lol

Early days do get crowded...we always go to another park instead of the one that has early entry. Its like a magnet that draws people away from the other parks....

Maybe we should do the E-ride night on Saturday, not do the Early Entry that next morning but for sure do the EE at MK later in the week. At Disney, it seems the answer is always BOTH. :)

None of us are early risers we love to stay up late.

We did e-nite & loved it, GS 9yrs will ride everything with us.
BTMRR 8x ,in a row splash 6x in a row etc.

What was really cool is GS did not want to watch fireworks since we had seen them the nite before. so we were on BTMRR, and when it came time to get off no one was waiting to get on so the cm's asked everyone if they wanted to stay on and go again, of course everyone did and as we would go around a different curve we would see the fireworks.

We were just at WDW and did e-ride night on 3/28. This was our first time for the after-hours thing and it was GREAT!!! If it is available during your visit, I would HIGHLY recommend it.

We have visited WDW many times so only planned three days into the parks this year. Because park hours were shorter, we took advantage of EE each of our days and then switched to other parks later when things got crowded. Using this method we were easily able to see EVERYTHING we wanted and still left the parks before closing each day.

We made the mistake of bringing a 3 yo to an e-night. I rode Buzz umpteen thousand times w/ DS, while DH got to ride everything he wanted. Yes, you can baby swap, but it would have been a good opportunity for DH & I to ride the larger rides together for a change.

The only "kiddie" rides at e-night are Buzz and (for some really *bizarre* reason) the Country Bears show. Fantasyland is completely shut down for e-night.

This trip, DS is going to a kid's club while we do e-night together.

They are equally good, but for different reasons. We always do both.

EE mornings are great if you have kids (or yourself) who enjoy Fantasyland without all of the lines and crowds. Also, it doesn't cost anything extra to take advantage of it.

E ticket nights are great if you and your kids like the "headliner" rides and don't want to endure the waits or heat during the day. The rides open with the exception of those in Tomorrowland are different than those open during EE mornings.

If you don't want to do both, you need to decide whether it is more important to you to do Fantasyland with no waits or Frontierland with no waits. That is basically what it boils down to... and whether you enjoy the early morning hours or MK at night better. Then you will have you answer!

I think actually that is the best answer, for some of thre reasons that other people have posted.

Remember that Sat. is one of the few nights that week that the MK will have spectro and the fireworks. So it is going to be crowded at the start of e-night. Really crowded. But that will thin out as e-night gets going. Right at first the lines will be more than you expect, but after the first hour or so it will be nice. As others have mentioned, this is the time to really enjoy the more thrilling e-ticket rides, plus the feeling of the more empy park at that time of night is a great one.

I think you are very wise to do EE another morning of the week. Sunday is still a weekend day, so you have local traffic plus the early entry traffic. So it will be almost as crowded as Satuday. If you go to the EE day during the week you can go to the fantasyland attractions with a much lower crowd and really enjoy them during those hours.

To be honest, if it wasn't for the fireworks, parade, and e-night on Saturday, I'd avoid the park that day. But, with those I would go over that night for sure. And a lot of people are going to agree with me and the crowds will be up- but the e-night will be worth it. I would just avoid the afternoon there for sure though and go somewhere else more quiet.

I must have been away from the DIS boards too long since I didn't know they were having an E-Ride night on 5/17. I knew they had announced them for 5/27 and and 5/30. I guess I always thought they were only on Tuesday and Friday nights. It would be nice if they were offered on other nights too. To answer the question, if the cost doesn't bother you and you think you like the rides that are usually open, I'd do E-Ride. There's something about the limited crowds and moving around in the park at night that's really cool. Then if you've still got the enthusiasm do the EE too. It's surprising when you're there how much you enjoy it.
