Ok...so I just asked a question about the AKL and seeing the animals in January, but IF that doesn't work out, what would you choose for a DVC resort? I want to know what one offers over the other and such. We're thinking about going in January, but we have only ever stayed at All Star Music, but we would like to rent points for a DVC hotel. Also, can I do DDP if I am renting DVC points? I'm new to this!

wrong forum.

Anyway where you go depends upon you and what you want.

both BCV and BWV are close enough to Epcot and Studios to walk or take the boat. walking is faster.

SSR is next door to DD.

VWL is a boat ride or bus away from the MK.

OKW is close to DD - walk, bus, or boat.

BCV and BWV are like Atlantic ocean front condo/houses of the 1920 & 1930's

OKW is like Key West, Florida.

VWL is like the mountain lodges out West

SSR is like Saragota Springs, NY - so lots of people who have been to SSR want something different.

all have water slides and kids activties. at OKW each quiet pool has a playground, I think SSR does too.

go look at pictures and then you decide what is right for you.

And there is now another DVC...Animal Kingdom Villas. You could have your cake and eat it too.

If you do rent points, the member would add the DDP and ME to your reservation if you want them. You would pay for DDP when you check in.

For a January trip, I would try to stay at the BWV or BCV, because they are walking distance from Epcot. Epcot is the only park that stays open late in the winter, so you can start at another park and then hop to epcot in the evening and walk out the back to bed.

I love the BCV. We love this area and being able to walk to Epcot and MGM. I like the themeing and the quiet there. The Villas are beautiful and a one bedroom or larger gives you a full kitchen as well as a washer and a dryer.
AT the BCV you can use Stormalong Bay which is probably the nicest pool on Disney property. But is January that may not be a factor in your decision.
The Villas at OKW are larger than any of the others. They are really spacious. We really enjoyed our stay there too.

I prefer BCV for it small size, atmosphere, and close proximity to EPCOT. As far as the DDP goes I think the person you were renting from would possibly have to book the DDP for you because it would likely need to be done through member services.
