Which DVC resort is close to...

...golf courses?
DH and I are new DVC owners (home resort BWV). I was thinking it would be nice for me to reserve a golf weekend for DH. I would love to do this around Father's Day, but I know that is a busy time of year. I would like to book a 1BR so that DS (who will be 2yrs by then) and I can join dad for the weekend. DS and I would most likely stay by the pool during the day while dad golfed.
Does anyone have recommedations on which DVC resort may best suit our needs? We will have our car with us, so DH could drive to any golf course, it would just be nice to have something close by. Also, how far in advance can I reserve tee times for him, and can I do this through MS?

Well, you can't get much closer than OKW! It has the golf course running through it! Buena Vista course is the one OKW is built on. Another plus is that it costs less points and has bigger rooms than the other DVC resorts. SSR will be easy access to the golf course as well.

Or... Since your not planning to use the parks from the sound of it, you could even consider Hilton Head. Then your son could play on a fantastic beach during the day, too. Hilton Head is overflowing with top of the line golf courses. Availability is more likely to be a problem at HHI, though.

WDW will take him back and forth to the golf courses.

you can request a golf view if you like at OKW.

Around Orlando there are also many fine courses but more expensive.
Dvc members also have reductions on site in Orlando

Thank you for all the great ideas! I hadn't even considered HH! But I do think you are correct that it may be difficult to book during late June.
I like the idea of OKW being right on the golf course...
Once I hit my 7 month booking window I will check for availability at both OKW and SSR (maybe I can get a spa treatment in too!)

While OKW does have a view of several holes on the Lake Buena Vista course, SSR has the clubhouse/pro shop for that course. The first tee is right across the canal from SSR marina. SSR will be a very convenient location for access to that course.

As mentioned, HH has a number of nearby courses to choose from.

My wife and I have been to Disney for Fathers' Day '02 & '03, and are going again this coming June (checking in on Fathers' Day actually). Crowds have been moderate - many schools are not out yet up north. I'm not sure about booking availability, but we had no trouble getting OKW studio at the 7 month window (Called day-by-day). As already mentioned, OKW and SSR are right on the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. The Bonnett Creek Courses -- Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge are right down the road. These two are also about the same distance from the WLV as they are from OKW. WLV is quite close to the Palm and Magnolia Courses. Disney will provide transportation (usually by way of a taxi voucher) to all the courses for folks who are playing.

This last trip to OKW, we were in building 64, and I really enjoyed watching the folks play the green right below our balcony. One of the fun things about the resort!
