This is something where I think
DCL could improve a bit. Streamlined processes with guests communication, pub (specifically) staff, entertainment staff, and opening / staff hours around sporting events. I know it would NEVER be perfect with all of the sports in the world, all of the start / end times, broadcasting rights, but it COULD be better. There should be NO reason that the pub closes promptly at 12pm during a World Series game. A staff member somewhere on the chain of command could easily be in charge of being aware of major sporting events (or even things people are requesting at the bar that day, or days prior)... And thus tweak hours or change timing of entertainment options.
I know the Fantasy is a bit different with space, entertainment locations, and pub hours... But...
On our cruise in September, they did several "unique" things.
1.) Shut down promptly on time (and asked everyone to leave) the first night.
2.) Staff left (put all alcohol away), but left TV's and sound another night (for NFL football). This may have been because a lot of us got familiar with the bar staff (who were wonderful).
3.) Put the F1 race on for a fairly large crown (we were in Europe) and then turned it off 1/2 through for a "learn to drawn" class. They said leaving it on a single (the large screen) TV was not allowed. This was the entertainment team, versus the bar staff (who wasn't even really allowed to change channels... They had to call someone).
I realize cruising isn't always about watching sports... But people do like their sports... And it seems like a simple way (using the pub more effectively for sports) to keep people happy.
