Where to stay?

Please help us decide where to stay this summer. There will be two families traveling together, four adults and four children (one girl - 9 yrs old, one 12-year-old boy, and two thirteen-year-old boys).

We probably are not even going to the parks  , so it's important that we find the perfect place to stay. We are looking for a resort with an AWESOME pool, including slides, with many activities that are not too "babyish" for our kids ages. The 12-year-old (who has never been on a vacation anywhere) wants to stay at the Nick Hotel, but I'm not sure if he or the teens would really like it once we got there.

Oh, and we'd love something that's reasonably priced. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any advice!

How about trying a 5 or 6 bedroom pool home at Windsor Hills Resort. They have a huge pool with a waterslide, private movie theatre where you get to pick the movie you watch, games room, basketball court, tennis court, playground etc. all included in your rental price. Besides which most of the homes have their own games rooms with pool table, air hockey etc along with your own pool. Depending on the dates you can usually rent a home cheaper than two hotel rooms. Try vrbo.com or windsorhillsrent.com There's also Windsor Palms, Emerald Island, Terra Verde, Weston Hills etc. that have community clubhouses and pools etc.
We love the vacation homes because of all the room and ammenities that you get for less than the cost of a hotel room.

Totally agree with Sympatico - it's all about not having to vacation and "live" out of 1 hotel room. The house will be cheaper and more comfortable than a hotel room and it is really fun living in a home with another couple (put the kids to bed or send them to the games room in the garage and crack open the wine out on your own private lanai and pool - spa too!).

Windsor Hills is a great resort community!

Also Agree, Go with a house or condo. Make sure if you go with a house that it has a community pool, game room, ect. Winsor hills is what we are looking into for next year since we won't be doing the parks either. It sounds great, if you google it you will find tons of places you can go through to rent a place perfect for your group. I have personally never been to Windsor hills but have delt with floridasunshine.com and had great service. Have Fun.:rotfl:

Thank you so much for the replies. I must say that Windsor Hills does look appealing. We will most likely only be staying three to five nights. Do you think we will have a problem finding a WH rental for less than a week? Also, is there any type of entertainment by the pool (music, dj, activities, pool bar, etc.)?

Still interested to hear opinions about teens at the Nick Hotel, too. Windsor Hills sounds great to me, but the family that we are traveling with seems to be somewhat determined to stay at the Nick.

Thanks for your help! :)

If you don't mind staying a little further away from Disney...maybe 15 minutes, I would suggest Regal Palms. They have 3 and 4 bedroom townhomes so each family could have their own space. But the big draw is the pool area. It is just incredible. It has a zero entry, water slide and lazy river which the kids would love. There is a bar/restaurant right at the pool.

The units themselves are basic and self-catering. Means you have to pick up after yourself and supply your own house stuff...such as paper towels, soap, detergent, etc.. But for under $150 a night, each family can have multiple bedrooms to spread out in.

Just do a google search on regal palms to see pictures. You can reserve through private owners or hotel kingdom if you decided that is where you would like to stay.

There is also a Publix shopping center right next to it.
