Where should we get a scooter from?

What is the best place to rent a scooter from in Orlando? Top criteria are:

That the scooter is comfortable and offers some protection from sun and rain,
A good price,
That the company will deliver the scooter to our resort.

Does anyone have any good recommendations? Any advice on what not to get?

Thanks for your help!

Follow the link in my signature or look near the top of this board for the disABILITIES FAQs thread.
Post 2 of that thread has a list of off-site companies that rent ECVs (scooters) and wheelchairs. All of those companies will deliver and pick up from your resort.

Those companies are listed because they are the ones DIS posters have reported pretty consistently good experiences with over the years. Individual people have their favorites - so you will find posts from people who recommend all of those companies. I would feel comfortable renting from any of them.
You will find phone numbers and websites, so you can look at the website or call and get a feel for which company feels the most comfortable to you.

I just want to note that you mentioned needing the scooter to have protection from sun and rain. Since you mention both sun and rain, I assume you mean the scooter needs to protect the user from those things. The only way to do that is to get a scooter with a canopy. The canopy will be an additional cost and you'll have to take it off to use the buses and I suspect inside theaters and any ride that allows scooters. It will also likely restrict the line of sight for the person using it and definitely will restrict line of sight for those around that person (so expect that if you use the wheelchair/ECV parade viewing areas to get asked for the ECV user to stay in the back row so that other people can see).

There are several posts on the board about using ponchos to protect from rain while using a scooter and it may be easier to protect from sun using clothing. If heat is a problem as well as sun (or if that's the bigger issue), it's probably useful to look at general cooling tips from other people on the boards and possibly (depending on the situation of the person needing the ECV) to look at cooling vests and similar items.
