(not really)
Thurs. Nov. 13, 2008I had the Disney adrenaline running through me, I was up promptly at 8:30am and ready to go, my lovely partner was worn out, I let him sleep in until 10am even though it about killed me
. In all my Disney first night routine, putting away the clothes, setting up the room the way I wanted it, I had forgotten only one thing, but one of the most important things:
CHARGING BILLS WHEELCHAIR!!
I kept repeating Ip Dip in my head over and over again, I plugged the chair in and it charged while he slept. After Bill got ready, we left the room and saw these views:
We decided to go the opposite direction of the lobby and cut through the parking lot to the busses and saw this cute little playground:
We got through the turnstiles at Epcot and I dragged Bill to the photopass photographers, poor Bill was having trouble keeping his eyes open because of the Florida sunshine, looks like I was too:
One thing I learned on this trip (and the previous one), I had some of my shirts made by zazzle.com, I ordered them too big, guess I thought I was the same size I used to be
. I learned if the shirt is too big, it makes you look bigger than you really are especially in pictures. So some of these shirts are going to be regulated to bumming around the house.
More topiaries!!
When we headed to the Land we saw these guys:
Bill and I really enjoy the street performers at all the parks, they dont get enough credit for all the things they do. We always pause to watch them.
It was time to go to:
We wanted FPs for Soarin. We had ridden it for the first time in October and had to go back on it. The return time was 3:46 4:46pm. Lunch was at Sunshine Seasons again, Bill wanted the same food he had in October, the pork chop meal and key lime tart:
I got the sweet and sour chicken and fruit tart:
After we ate we decided to have Ellen tell us about the Universe of Energy:
Here is what the ramp looks like that the wheelchairs go on to get on the ride:
Here is Bill unloading, the ramp is a little steep that is why a CM is behind him(it's dark):
We decided to head back over in the general direction of The Land, but still had some time to kill before our FPs were ready. We hadnt seen Honey I Shrunk the Audience for a long time, so we went there. What I forgot about was they were doing the wheelchair accessible seats a little different than the last time we had watched it. They wanted the wheelchair people to get something like a FP to come at different times of the day and they said the show that was going to be starting was full.
Ok, so we headed over to Figment, there is never a line at Figment. Here are the ride vehicles:
This is how Bill loads in this ride, very easy loading!!:
We were off, listening to the catchy little tune, One Little Spark, then we got toward the end, so close to the end we can see the doors, so close to the end that the CMs are waving goodbye to us when we here this loud noise and everything stopped, well everything but the music!
Imagination, Imagination, Imagination over and over and over again for 5 minutes straight
. They finally turned off, said there was an issue and came over to manually open the doors while other CMs started walking the track to evacuate everyone.
Here is the funny part and by funny I mean comical. It seems that any time a wheelchair has to be evacuated off a ride, even if it is 2 feet, literally 24 inches from its destination like we were, Reedy Creek Fire Department must be called, I kid you not, it is WDW policy. A manager CM Barbie came to talk to us while we waited for Reedy Creek to arrive. I am kicking myself that I didnt take a picture of her or have her take a picture of us just sitting there.
She explained to us that she would be able to turn the car and get Bill out correctly, but Reedy Creek has to be there to watch her do it. We talked about her, us, and everything in between. We told her how appreciative we were about the accessibility of the parks etc. she was a very sweet woman. By the time Reedy Creek came, we were the only guests around but there were 12 other people in the room.
Yes you read that right 12:
3 Reedy Creek people and 9 CMs. We felt so special LMAO.
