Well....all I know is when I was born, I was born with a full head of jet black hair and I was not a wrinkled red, not me....I was yellowish-tan (but not jaundiced). The first words out of my paternal grandmother's mouth was "She looks like a little indian papoose"
. I don't think grandma thought I was a beautiful baby.
My birth mother was not too happy about that comment and yes, we do have native american blood in us (but actually we are all pale skinned irish folk). A few months later, I still had dark hair, but pale milky white skin and cute as a button.

This is true when it comes to other friends/family members babies (you can't be honest and say the baby is NOT beautiful). Strangers however, if strangers say your baby is cute then I think you can rest assured he/she is because a stranger has no reason to comment at all
