We are going next week ddp free for the first time...trying to watch my weight and am on the liking for some decent salads please! Thanks!

I had a southwestern one at the CS place at CR last year that was good. Had black beans, corn and a cilantro dressing I think.

The CS salads at WDW aren't always the healthiest, but my faves are:
DHS- Fairfax Salad @ Fairfax Fare (romaine, cheese, pico de gallo, roasted corm, chili & dressing)
MK- Taco salad from Pecos Bill (Definitely not healthy! However, Columbia Harbor House has a CS meal w/ grilled salmon, steamed broccoli, & couscous. And, Golden Oak Outpost in MK doesn't have salads, but they do have a yummy veggie flatbread w/ hummus.)
Epcot- Seared tuna salad or roasted beet & goat cheese salad @ Sunshine Seasons
AK- Caesar salad @ Pizzafari or Dig Site salad @ Restaurantosaurus (same ingredients as Fairfax Fare)

Have a great trip!

The Chicken Caesar Salad is at a lot of places, it's pre-made so you run the risk of brown edges on the lettuce.

I think some of the best salads are in the hotels. That salad mentioned by El&Asmom at the contemporary is delicious. That's at the Contempo Cafe which is a QS next door to Chef Mickey's.

I've really enjoyed the 'make your own' salads available at All Star Movies and I think All Star Music has a station as well. You pick what you want and they make it for you. There are a lot of options.

The CS salad I enjoyed the most was from Capt. Cook's at the Polynesian..

Polynesian Tossed Salad - Made with chicken, mixed greens, cucumbers, golden pineapple, cherry tomato, chives, blue cheese and crisp wonton noodles in a citrus-sesame dressing

I get it without the chicken - it's a large salad and very, very good. Thinking about trying to recreate it at home. Other than the Colony Salad at Liberty Tree Tavern (that's a TS, though) it is my favorite salad on property. Just in case you were curious here is the description for the Colony Salad (again I get it without the chicken) and let me say it is a HUGE salad and totally worth the trip to LTT.

Colony Salad - Washington apples, sweet pecans and applewood smoked cheddar and grilled chicken tossed with field greens in honey shallot vinaigrette.

I believe I've read that at POR- Riverside they have a make your own salad station.

I haven't seen one (that a PP mentioned) at All Star Music but may have missed it somehow.....

For lunch and dinner All Star Music has a custom salad you have them make for you based on what you want in the salad. You then choose which meat you want on it, either Chicken, Salmon or Steak. I am a vegetarian so I would get my salad custom ordered how I like it (with extra cheese and extra dressing) and got Salmon and gave it to my DD. She LOVES Salmon. SO out of 10 nights we were there she got to have Salmon about 4 times, in addition to her own meal of course.

In the parks I mostly has the pre-made Caesar salad or Pizza.

I ate several salads at WDW last week. I was disappointed that my favorite BLT salad at Columbia Harbor House was gone. My favorite was the Cobb salad at Earl of Sandwich @ $5.95 minus a 15% AAA discount.

I thought Pinocchio's Village Haus in MK had yummy salads! I ate a lot of salad on our last trip and I really enjoyed it there!

Wow - I have to say I admire your will power. In addition to the salads on our last trip I ate a lot of caramels, Mickey bars, soft pretzels and frozen lemonades! popcorn::

My two favorite salads in the World:

Antipasto Salad at Pizzafari at AK.
Roasted Beets and Goat Cheese Salad - with Honey Sherry dressing at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.

:)

I'll have to second the Pecos Bill's taco salad. It's really good. The chicken Cesar seems to be the same packaged salad at every CS I've tried it. It's OK, but they are the same everywhere.

In October I had the chicken Caesar salad at Pecos Bills and it was NOT exactly like the others in the parks. Ugh. I'll pass on it. I like that salad at other places.

I like the BBQ salad at Flame Tree BBQ. It is thinly sliced chicken and, I think, really good.

I had a great turkey cobb salad at WPE at DTD in August. I've always enjoyed the salads I've had at WDW (with the cobb salad at Brown Derby being my fav.), but I'm not sure how healthy they are given the cheeses and salad dressings, etc. Very tasty, though.

You may be able to do better at the resort CS locations as you can request the dressing on the side or no dressing at all. I know I have done that with the beef salad at Contempo more than once. In the parks, I had the beef salad (which was new in August - used to be chicken ceasar salad) from Cosmic Rays. The chicken ceasar salad at Sunshine Seasons is made in front of you, so you can ask them to skip the cheese for example. I don't know if they will be able to make you a salad without the dressing. I have really enjoyed the Cobb salad at WPE, again I just asked them to put the dressing on the side.

The reason I got salads often is because I am simply a big veggie eater, but I hate most dressings.

As an aside, if you decide to get a sandwich, most places are willing to substitue the fries or chips with a bag of sliced apples or a bag of baby carrots. They would be a healthier option as well.

If you skip the sides completely at counter service places, the price of your meal will probably be about $2 less

Wow, I thought I was a Disney food pro, but... you can do this? The menu implies (probably purposefully) that you can't break things out... So at any CS place, you could ask for just the main portion of the meal (sandwich or burger or whatever) and forgo the sides for a discount? Can you do that with the kiosks at Pecos Bill and others?

Sorry to derail but this is really useful information :)
