Would it upset you if they changed religions from the one you raised them in?

No, not at all. I want my children to be happy in whatever they chose.

No, not at all. I have tried to let my kids know that religion is more about faith and comfort than anything. I have my faith and comfort because my religion brings that to me. Sometimes, you have to explore religions to decide which one brings you comfort and belief.

One of my four children has changed religions. I am happy they go to church...period. How they worship isn't as important...to me...as the fact they do.

Considering that religion isn't a part of our lives, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point they explore different spiritual paths. Would it upset me? No. But I wouldn't want them to gullibly follow a charismatic friend or leader. I hope they will be critical thinkers and if they choose to become involved in a religion, I hope it will be a decision they reach after MUCH contemplation.

yes it would .... i am sure i would discuss it with them and then be ok with it though .....

I raised all 3 of my kids going to church every Sunday and we were very active. My DD's go to church when they can but they both work on Sundays. My DS goes on Easter to make me happy but doesn't believe in any religion and questions if there is even a God. He lost a really good friend in Iraq and he is struggling with why it happened. I hope he finds his way back but I understand what he is going through and I accept it. I raised my kids to think on their own and always told them if they change at least they have something to compare things to.

Not one bit.

My 88yo Mom considers herself a "failure" because only 1 out of the 5 of us is a practicing Catholic. All 5 of us have been married 24 plus years. There isn't an alcoholic or drug addict among us or the grandchildren. Yet she sees herself as a failure. That's just sad.

I raised them Catholic for a bit (my religion). Then we quit. We do not subscribe to a religion now.

So if they decide to pick a religion it would surprise me.

I would not be upset if they chose any Christian denomination, but if they renounced Jesus Christ, yes I would be upset.

We aren't religious in our family, but we are each spiritual in our own way. It wouldn't shock me if DS turned to organized (or any other) religion but I would be upset if he became close minded about it.

One of my children has changed religions from what we raised him in at home. He is a good man, with a great wife and child and I am happy he has found a faith he is comfortable in now. I believe grown children should make their own choices in life without parent intervention. We would not have liked it if our parents made choices for us and neither do they. Just be happy that you raised a good person, and do not worry over how they choose to live with or without spirituality in their lives.

I would not care what type of church they chose to worship at as long at it was a Christian church. I feel strongly about my faith and would be heartbroken if they walked away from the very basics. I don't care how they choose to do this. I would have no problem with them including aspects of other faiths as my sister who is a Christian includes some Buddhist principals in her faith.
There is nothing my children could do that would stop my loving them and as adults I would respect their choices. Our family tends to debate religion at times and we all have differences of opinions. I would probably use those times to occasionally talk about the faith I believe in or I would just show thim with my life how my faith helps me.

I agree with Dawnct1, any Christain religion is fine by me, but you profess your love and faith in Jesus.

I would be very sad. But I wouldn't let it put a rift between us or anything like that.
