When you grocery shop, what type(s) of bags do you use?

i try to use reusable bags at our local grocery store, but they always give me annoyed looks and audible humphs. it's very bizarre. considering that it's much easier for them to deal with the big reusable bags than try to open a new plastic one for each and every item they bag.

I was going to post this as I read through this thread...I'm glad to see I'm not the only one getting this response from the cashiers...sorry it's such an inconvenience TO DO YOUR JOB!
I thought by now with so many stores selling and advocating the reusable bags, the cashiers and baggers wouldn't think anything of it.
Then, I get them putting 3 things in them and then using 20 plastic bags in addition to them anyway!
Once in a while I get a great packer and often I just do it myself.
I love the reusable bags!

I get plastic bags when my stock for the trash bags and catboxes is getting low. Otherwise I use cloth bags. Most of them I bought at Christmas Tree Shop, one is a HUGE tote from LLBean. Hannaford gives me 5 cents back for each bag and they can hold a lot without rolling all over the back of the car. I'm not really a greener-I just like getting a few cents off and not having 50 plastic bags with 2 items in each bag. Drives me nuts.

that's the exact problem i have! i hate getting 20 plastic bags when i go for groceries. i always try to find the lanes now that have no baggers, because i like bagging myself. i can get all the items that they would put into 20 plastic bags into my 3 reusable bags. i have a whole big box of plastic bags in our basement because i don't want to throw them out (i use them as garbage bags in our small trash cans), but i always forget to bring them back to our local whole foods to recycle them in the bins.

I love love paper bags, I just got some reusable bags, but forget to bring them, and some stores only offer plastic. No matter, a bag is a bag to me...
