Lol. Well I don’t exist to make you believe me. If you think the lockdown last into July? I’ll sell you moon property. I’m sticking with May. Late May or early. But come June. That’s that.
As for the term professional. Is separates us from the vollies. Yes it’s a term used. At least in Ohio. So maybe you know a lot of volunteers. Cause no. They are not professional.

Who said July? I'm saying it won't be May.

As for the firefighters I work with, they are all big city paid fireman. It's a given that they are professionals and seem to have no insecurities that someone might think they are volunteers. If you truly are a medic with the FD (and I still doubt that), than your nonchalant attitude is extremely unprofessional.

When I hear the view that people aren’t going to put up with restrictions much longer, I get the impression that many consider the SIP order on a par with “don’t exceed the speed limit,” or don’t park in a no parking zone. To them, it’s just a pesky law that’s cramping their freedoms. They don’t see it’s for their own good—that the life they save by staying home may be their OWN. It isn’t just the weak, sickly, and elderly that die.

I know we can’t cower in our homes forever, but we’ve bought time for hospitals, doctors, and researchers to make inroads against the spread of the virus. If the hardest hit areas have to give it another few weeks, so be it. Other areas may find it safe to cautiously return to work.

I can’t wait until it’s commonplace that everyone committing a crime includes a description “wearing face mask”.
I think many people are thinking twice because they don't want to end up in jail right now, lol.

There's always the desperate but this virus must be having some type of deterrent affect.

DH is Call Firefighter and has gone through all the same training as full time firefighter. (which is what they are really called, not "volunteer" and "professional") He goes to every call, weekly training, same annual training as the full timers, picks up extra duty, plus workers 50+ hours as a Project Superintendent for the DoD. He agrees this will not be done by May.

Lol. Ok.

Every 3rd day? I think I'll listen to the nurses and doctors working in the ER every day with barely enough time to sleep.
Many hospitals and ERs are empty across the country...way below average. I hope it stays that way.

Not to get off topic. But no. Lol. He does not have the same training. I’ve been doing this since 1995 on Cincinnati fire and 4 years in the USAF. We witness their training. And it’s not the same. Lol. Goodness. No. It’s not the same. We see it everyday how the volunteer depts are. I’m not saying every member isn’t good or tries. But as a whole. It’s like comparing your local GE softball team to the Reds. Lol it’s not the same. Sorry.
Now. Of you are Paid call. You may have the same 300 hour academy class. Some require that. Some not for paid call. Depends on dept. Let alone the Hazmat training. Confined space and Medic. The training is not the same. Now is the standards.
I’m any case. Different forum for that argument.

Yep, not the snag and bag guys who drop the patients and run. Fortunately, I have only run into a handful who think they know it all.

We work. 24 on and 48 off. Plus lots of Overtime. So Try again on the insult.
That’s the common schedule of a Professional firefighter. Hence. The profession added term.

Most COVID patients are not coming by ambulance. They are walking in to ERs if necessary and getting admitted or they are calling their own doctors, doing drive up tests and recovering at home. Like I said, what you don't know is enhancing your rose colored view. But hey...as long as baseball starts, who cares...:sad2:

And most of that time is spent sleeping and hanging out at the station. It's a part time job at best, with most full timers having time for a 2nd job or personal business.

It's easy to just keep saying this doom and gloom stuff, but what's the solution? Just open everything up? How is that going to help the economy? It's not a simple choice.

MOST (not everyone) people are just fine right now. Many are still working either at their physical location or from home, those that have been laid off are likely to start being paid more than they were while working. This idea of people revolting over protecting our most at risk citizens because the weather is going to be nice soon is childish, selfish behavior.
Any smart person that works at a department store should not want to go back to work right now. They are about to make more money than they were while working through July, all while not being at risk everyday.
I don‘t think you realize the privilege and personal bias apparent in these comments. While I assume you are able to work from home with no change in your personal income, I can guarantee you do not understand retail. Much less any “smart person” who works retail.

Other than nyc. No where is the masses flowing into hospitals sick. Or over flowing and no rooms for them. On the opposite side of it. There is literally empty hospitals. And if the elective surgeries don’t start soon. Guess who else goes bankrupt. The Hospitals. Come May those procedures will be back to happening. I know a co worker of mine has a scope planned for May 12. His doctor told him they would be back to doing that stuff by then. Even the doctors have to start working. None of this shutdown is sustainable but for a couple three more weeks or so. Just isn’t.
PA is providing loans to hospitals. Wolf says will we need them when this is over. PA DOH has a map listing available hospital beds, icu beds, vents, etc. Even Philadelphia County has a availability as the current “hot spot.” I am pretty sure Wolf agrees with this sentiment and is trying to preempt hospital default.

It’s like comparing your local GE softball team to the Reds. Lol it’s not the same. Sorry.
He went through the exact.same.training. as full time firefighters and trained right alongside them. He does all the same annual training as well, right alongside the full timers. The requirements are exactly the same for all for certification.

Yep. And I’m still not worried about it. More of a chance to die driving to the station. And I’m possibly exposed to it every third day......
And your point is? It’s still 5001 on my list.
And you are STILL wrong. Not an opinion, just a fact:
Fear>behavior modification>better health outcomes.

Thank God for the fearful. They are making us all stronger.

That is just the FIRST time you've been wrong, There are SO many other times. Every step of the way. Congrats or something.

Have you added up all your posts on this subject vs all other Disney postings? How many posts per minute do you make?

Ah no. The old timers do that is retireing but from my class down. Most here don’t. We can live on 80k. Family time is more important.

I am a Professional firefighter Medic and we have been doing tje runs etc that the rest of the nations fire service has. We transport folks everyday that thins they have or do have the virus. Most have minimal symptoms. And some none. Some bad. Different for all. But we have also transported the guy that lost everything and was suicidal. So trust me. I’m out there and I know we are close to the end. You can feel it from every press conference. Folks will have to be getting back to work soon. Or the side effects will be worse than the virus.

I wonder if part of your perspective here comes from living in Ohio. There was an excellent article in the Washington Post yesterday about how the early action in Ohio, much earlier than the federal government and many other states, has led to the caseload in Ohio being much lower than you would anticipate given the population of the state. Canceling conventions and other big events, postponing the primary elections, closing schools earlier than other state. The coordination between the hospital districts in the three major urban areas in Ohio, led by the Cleveland clinic, have lead to lower rates there.

But, the concern from the leadership in Ohio is still evident based on this very effective ad from the department of health.

So you believe retail workers would rather be on the job right now making like $400/week while being at risk of this virus everyday vs being at home furloughed making approx $900/week through July and then returning back to work when it's more safe? What am I missing that I don't understand?

DH is paid, but doesn't do it for the money. He does a lot of work off the books that benefits the whole department, as do most call guys. Full timers get paid OT for 1 second of extra time they work past their schedule. And they full timers alllll have second careers, because they can and they still have plenty of time with their families.

And the whole department believes this thing isn't going away before June.
