December 1: The Winter Wonder Festival will be held at Shelter Cove Community Park on Friday, Dec. 1, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. There will be hayrides, carnival games, petting zoo, children's parade and much more. Don't forget that we will be joined by Mr. & Mrs. Claus! The festival provides a safe environment for parents and children to begin their holiday celebration. The target age for the event is 3-12, but everyone is welcome. Free admission, donations welcome. Concessions, trampoline bungee, and rock wall sold separately. December 6-31: Newsies - Carolinas' Premiere, Two-Time Tony-Award Winner … a High-Energy Hit! Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged 'newsies,' who dreams of a better life far from the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys' expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike and take a stand for what's right. The story is inspired by the real-life Newsboys strike of 1899 in New York City, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and book by Harvey Fierstein. The rousing songs, high-energy dance numbers, and an uplifting story make for an evening of inspirational storytelling in the best possible sense. December 23: 26th Annual Hilton Head Hospital Jingle Jingle 5K Run and Health Walk around the Hilton Head Hospital Campus and Main Street, 9 a.m. All standard male and female running divisions with a free Kids Fun Run for children age 6 and under. Holiday prizes are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, plus the top three in each age category will also receive unique holiday awards.
