When to purchase SW tickets?

I am helping my cousin and her family plan their first WDW trip for this spring. I believe it will also be the first time any of them have flown. SHould I advise them to buy their plane tickets on Nov 10th when the flights are released or wait a month or two? When are likely to be the best deals? They are looking for fly on Tuesday, April 14th and home on Wednesday, April 20th.

Tickets usually go up in price, sometimes dramatically. Occasionally you can hit a sale, but it's not dependable. We booked in March last year for a sept trip to Disney and rebooked later during a sale to get more preferred flight times and a little credit on our accounts. Is that still spring break time in April? They're less likely to offer sales in busier times. I would probably book when they are available then just stay on the lookout for sales. Will be flight credit dollars you get back, good for a year from original booking.

Tues & Wed are the cheapest days of the week to fly. Still all it takes is one group reservation to fill half a plane and raise prices. It's always a gamble but when I can be a little flexible with dates and/or times of day it helps.
When you're locked into a tight schedule, you have to just take what you can get.

We have flown to WDW for over 10 years and the prices have never dropped. I always book SW the day they open and have only seen the prices go up, usually within the week.

With SW, if the prices do drop you can get a credit. That happened when going to San Antonio.

If you have other trips you may take, I would book day one and stalk Southwest for lower prices. For spring break, we are flying Sat-Sat nonstop from Louisville. We did not buy at first as it was $276 there and $233 back. During the $49 sale last week I rechecked and it was $136 there for the first 2 tickets, $176 for the 3rd. I checked the flight back and almost fell over at $87 non stop. This week the $176 ticket dropped to $158 so we have an $18 credit.

There really is no rhyme or reason with SW prices, the key is to keep checking and get credits.

Just luck/timing/stalking the website but we had them go down after we booked for our last trip. Not the typical, but if you get lucky with a sale it can happen.
