We are considering Dis cruise Oct-Nov 2003. Our use yr is Aug. We will be using banked pts from current use yr., pts. from upcoming use year and borrowing pts from 2004.
My guestion is, how likely are we to get a room if we call Aug 1st for Oct- Nov cruise. DVC is still new to us so we are assuming we cant book this far ahead using pts. I hope this post makes some since.
Thanks for any insight.

You can book the cruise on points 11 months in advance. If you need to wait until August to book, you may find fewer options available for the dates you choose.

If possible, book the cruise as far in advance as possible to avoid any disappointment.

Have a great cruise. DCL is really special!

You need not wait until August 1st if you are waiting so that the points are in your hand to book your cruise. You only need to have the points available at the time the cruise sails. So you may book your cruise 11 months ahead from departure date. Have fun.

As stated previously, you can book the cruise at the 11 month mark. Your use year has no impact on when you can book the cruise. You just need to make sure the points will be available as of the cruise date (ie Oct/Nov) not the date you book.

One thing you should be aware of. When you book a cruise, those DVC points used to book the cruise become non-DVC points and are transferred out of the system. If for some reason you cancel your reservation, the points will not be usuable at DVC resorts. You will only be able to use for non-DVC reservations. In addition, you will not be able to bank the points on the cancelled reservation. The moral to this story - Be pretty sure you are going to cruise before you book one, but book the cruise as soon as you are sure.
