When should I book CR for May 2010 probably sometime the week of Memorial Day, but the cheaper days of that week? This will be for a graduation present. We specifically want to be in the Tower, either side. Otherwise we probably could only manage 2-3 nights at the most....the rest of the time at a value to make up the difference. I really want a discount so I don't want to ruin my chances of getting a PIN by booking too early. However, if (and that is IF) they do the 4/3 promotion we might could grab that.
The main question is when should we book to make sure we get the tower for sometime during that week? thanks

You can try to call for a room only reservation so you have something and always change it when a package deal is released.

Thanks, but I guess what I really want to know is "how far in advance" do I really need to make a ressie...or when would the latest time be to make a ressie to assure we get in the tower?
I'd like to put it off as long as possible, but I don't won't to mess up and not get it.......
So is it something you have to do a year in advance or say maybe around January would be a good time?
Thanks!

I believe you can start making room only reservations 365 days out, so sometime this May is when you can start calling and can always change when a package deal is released for the dates you will be there. Also because the Contemporary hosts a lot of conventions their rooms can sell out way in advance, so it's even more reason to try and get a reservation there whenever you can.

Thank you...looks like that would be wise...just make the ressie and wait. I didn't even think about conventions. Thanks again!

You can call and make room only reservations 499 days in advance. The rates for 2010 should be released sometime in August which is when a package reservation will be available. If you do book a room only reservation now and then want a package later, you will need to make a new reservation at that time, with a new deposit. Then the room only reservation will be canceled and the deposit refunded.

Is that done as one transaction? Old deposit room only ressie applied against new res? And can you just keep the same room you had reserved or do you run the risk of losing that room? Just trying to figure out when it makes sense to book room before the 365 day mark. Even if package rates are released in August, we wouldn't be able to book a package for say Sept/Oct 2010 at that time, would we?

I believe it's a different transaction. Originally for my families reservation this August we had a room only Contemporary Atrium Club - Magic Kingdom View reserved. However a few weeks ago we switched that to the 4/3 deal and because the Atrium Club - Magic Kingdom View is not available with the 4/3 deal, we had to take the Atrium Club - Bay Lake View. So the Cast Member from CRO cancelled our room only reservation and when we got the 4/3 deal we then got a brand new confirmation number. In the past when we have switched room only reservations to another resort the confirmation number did not change, so that's one of the differences.

In August the rates for all of 2010 will be released. So at that point you could make a reservation for any part of the year.
If you had a room only reservation and want to change it to a package, the deposit can not be applied against the new reservation. Disney needs to refund the money to you and you need to make a new deposit for the new reservation. They will not cancel the old room only reservation until they make a new reservation for you, so you can't lose the room you have.

But just so you understand, you can make a room only reservation 499 days in advance, not 365 days.
