When Should we do kali River Rapids?

Should we do it before we do one of the trails so we dry off while we're walking? Or should we do the trail, the rapids, then the bird show?

You can get soaked right to the skin on KRR. So it depends a bit on the weather. I wouldn't want to get wet and then sit on metal seats in the shade for the show unless it was a very hot day. We like to ride it and then walk the trails as we dry off. We usually do it in late afternoon.

How bad is the splashing on it? I'm wondering if my son will even want to go on it. He's sensitive to splashing etc... He might enjoy it since it's a fun ride, but if it hits him right in the face he won't ike it.

There are 10 (8?) seats in each vehicle. In our experience, 2 will be a bit wet, 1 will be completely soaked, and the rest will be pretty much dry. There is no way to predict which seat will be which when you get in at loading. The soaked seat usually gets soaked from behind, so it will get his head but it will cascade over his face, not so much splash directly into it.

If it is not hot, I would ride late in the day so you don't walk around wet.

We generally go when it is hot, so we ride first thing then walk around wet (hopefully) so that we stay cool.

I'd do trails right after. How old is your DS? We put our kids in their actual raincoats then put ponchos on their legs and that helped them to stay dry.

As far as who gets wet - I've heard that the heaviest seats (so combined weight) of the people who weigh the most will go down backwards and get the most wet. It was true for us the couple times we've ridden it.

I will be the soaked person! If you want to stay dry just ride with me and sit a few seats away!

Yep. Someone always get soaked all the way through to the skin. Sometimes more than one person. And it is COLD. And it smells nasty. sheeeshhh the things we do for our kids.

Oh, it's definitely not the heaviest seats! My son is light as a feather and has come off soaked to the skin, when sitting with just his brother. We like to think of it as a huge roulette wheel! It spins and stops where it will. Some get drenched, some walk off dry, some in the middle. But if you're worried about getting wet, you WILL!

It's not always the heaviest seats that get the wettest. It makes sense, but we've seen that theory fall through.

OP, if you don't want to be walking around the park wet (which you will be), then I'd ride it rather later in the day.

In our experience, there's a lot of splashing. Most of it is from the back, but not always. I would avoid this ride if your child is sensitive to splashing.

I have never come off that ride anything even close to dry. We usually ride right before we leave so we can get back to the hotel and change. The one exception was mid July when we were so hot that it felt good to get wet.

It's definitely not the heaviest seat that gets soaked. My son and I rode by ourselves across from each other. One of the empty set of seats was the one to get soaked.

My son (4) is obsessed with going to KRR on our next trip and loves watching this video:

you will have to fwd all the way to the AK part when they go to Kali, but you can see pretty well in the video how soaked people get, and also that the youngest kid gets pretty upset about it, hopefully it will give you a good idea whether your son will like it, mine loves the idea of getting soaked.

I think you should leave it for last, that's what we are going to do. We are planning on bringing ponchos but not sure it will be enough.
