Just trying to sense whether the UG is correct in its estimate of crowds next spring break time....I see NYC and NJ schools and Chicago have Spring Break mid April...what about your school where you live?

Living in New England we will have the 3rd week in April, just happens to be Easter week too.

DS is in college now, but I checked the school district calendar for next year on the school district website. Jackson, NJ has off the week beginning April 10th plus the additional day of Monday April 17th. It will be interesting to see how spread out spring breaks will be next year. :earseek:

I didn't vote because I didn't know the date of Easter, but i can tell you that in Louisiana most schools have Good Friday off & the week after Easter. Some schools have the week before Easter.

Another New Englander checking in here. Break begins with Good Friday, the 13th of April and continues with the entire week following Easter Sunday.

How do YOU think the crowds will be?

We start on Mon the 17th in CT. Also have Good Friday, the 14th off.Just how bad is it at this time? We would love to go, but are thinking we need to skip this year because it is Easter week. I would love to hear any first hand Easter Week experiences!! Thanks!

This poll was started by another thread of mine where I was wondering why the UG had March 27th marked as a crowd level 10--a level reserved usually for Easter (which is 3 weeks later) and Xmas (which I trust everyone knows is not celebrated in March-even though they say maybe that is closer to when Jesus was actually born--sorry that is off topic)...Lentesta suggested that March 27th was the week when most schools east of the Mississippi have spring break so they predict level 10 crowds....I don't see how that can be with my survey of NYC public schools and New Jersey and Massachusetts which as far as I can tell all take off in Mid April not the last week of March...this poll is confirming my suspcion that the UG may be overestimating the crowds for that week....I hope so...I would think Easter time will be a 10---but that March will top out at a 8 or 9...I would be happy if it is even lower.

:confused3 I'm confused so please help me! Is the UG is out for 2006? Or is it just a year by year listing in an older version? I'm going in March 2006 and am curious about getting it if it is. If you were talking about a UG for 2005 the dates for March 27th and Easter would correspond to each other, thus a 10 rating.

So that's what has me confused.

Our spring break is allways called March Break, because it is the first full week of March. This works great for us...as the crowds are usually not too bad.

We are doing the cruise next year, and the price is quite a bit lower than later in March.

This choice was not listed above..our spring break is April 13 - 21 :)

Here in my part of Northern New Jersey the kids are off starting April 10.

In SE NH, it's the last week in April.
Yes that's what I was going to say, here in Nashua,NH it's the last week in April. :flower:

Some school districts in Western New York have the week of April 10th and the week of April 17th off. No February break for us, that's why we get two consecutive weeks.

Yes it is listed. The question takes into account that some will break on Monday and others start on Friday so it asks what is the FIRST MONDAY of your break--you should click the box that says "the first Monday of your Spring Break is April 17th..."

As for the info from the UG it is on this website scroll to the bottom which shows crowd level predictions for every day for the next year---

Crowd level predictions by the UG

March 27th, 2006 is listed as a 10.

OK, I voted for when my kids have Spring break (but they are off starting 4/13 which is not a Monday, lol. Their 1st monday is 4/17.) HOWEVER every college or university has spring break off in march around here. If we do a spring trip next year, it must be during MY spring break, not the kids' because I cannot miss a week of college courses. Neither can DH. My spring break is, I believe, the week of 3/13 and dh's is the last week of March. Might be why they have 3/27 as a busy sunday??

Hmmm. I asked several people I know in other states, and my friend in Georgia's kids will have their first monday off be 4/3. Can't put that in the poll, since I already voted, though.

My friend in S.C.'s kids have 4/10 for their 1st monday off. (could not vote that, of course, either though.)
