My wife and I are having a disagreement, We have a dd 2 1/2 and wife is prego with #2 and due in aug. We went to wdw for halloween, returned last week for 7 days and are returning in May for mothers day week to sneak one more trip in while she is still mobile and able to handle the energy and excitment of our dd. ( Last week on day one we hit winnie the pooh 6-7 times, small world 4 times, aladin 2 times, buzz 2 times, full train ride, dumbo 1 time, merry go round, jungle cruise, mickey speedway, peter pan, pics with mickey minnie and tigger and pooh, a parade and a character dinner and back at ssr by 5 pm) We normally dont keep up a craed pace like that but the weather was cold and no swimming at resorts plausable & dd was in rare form. We were discussing when to book our next trip, Should we wait til #2 is over a year and comeback next haloween or is it easier to travel in May when #2 will be 9 mos and pretty laid back and probably napping on plane and in stroller in parks. What is the expierence like with children 9 mos and under like with a 3 year old like and how is it with a 15 mos old child at the parks. Thanks...

my son was born in august and we went that october (2 months old). we did fine, just don't be expecting to go at a very fast pace. along with us was our 3 year old DD.

I stuck my infants in a sling carrier and got around fine! Just go slow. Loved riding on Tomorrowland Transit Authority for naps!

In May I'll have my 15 month old and a 6 week old.... I'll let you know :)

My 8.5 month old does not like to sit in one spot for very long. She is figuring out that she can move and she wants to all the time. She will sit in her stroller for a while but I don't think I could imagine trying to hold her in lines and on rides. My DD is also not a napper. We are lucky to get 2 30 minute naps out of her a day. I don't know about a 15 month old but I am opting out of a trip for us this spring because I don't think it would be a very pleasant experience.

I leave with my 9 month old in 10 days. Ask the question again in a few weeks and I'll have an answer, lol!

Many people have lots of different opinions.I would never bring a baby less than 3 months.Only because their immune system is not fully developed and a crowded theme park loaded with all manner of germs( I am not germaphobic in the least either).Plus , even 6 weeks after birth,I was in absolutely in no shape to deal with a newborn whose sleep schedule is still all over the place and a vacation, and recouping from birth by walking around a themepark. But then again I had a very difficult pregnancy and delivery so it wasn't even an option for me.

My sister's youngest daughter was 2 1/2 months for her first trip to Disney World. Let's see, that made the older kids 5 and 9. It was a family trip with me and our parents along, so we had lots of grown ups to wrangle the little ones. Her doctor didn't have a problem with it, and we all had a great time!

I think the answer is unfortunately, you can't PLAN on any thing. Like PP's have said deliveries can be difficult or a baby @ 6+ mo. can be very active & not want to sit in a stroller all day. The best advice I could give would be to wait & see how delivery goes & then what kind of temperment you newborn has & then decide.

Just to keep in mind, all pregnancies & deliveries are different. My first went swimmingly & I bounced back very quickly, but with the second, oh boy, was my delivery very difficult & recovery was even worse. Ironically, my second had a very easy going temperment & would have been a breeze @ any age in WDW but there was no way I was in any shape to go any where for many months afterward.

I really think it's a matter of what is good for mom. I know that the first few months after my kids were born I felt like I was hit by a train.. I don't think I would have enjoyed a trip to Disney during those months. BUT- some new moms are out shopping and living it up within days and never slow down. My youngest was 15 months the last time we went and it was a blast. I probably would have been just as happy when he was 9+ months old.. any earlier than that and I don't think I'd have enjoyed myself much.

We took DS at 5 months and had a great time, we'll be taking DD at 6 months and are hoping it will be just as much fun. I probably won't go before the child was 3 months to make sure I was recovered from birth, but I would have no problem taking a 4+ month child to Disney World.

Thanks for the input all, long way to go til decision day but dw would go 15 mins after delivery if possible....let me know how those trips with the lil ones go

We fly out at 7am tomorrow with our 7 1/2 month old GS for 8 days in WDW.
And we are really looking forward to it, I don't forsee any real problems. Besides, who doesn't want out out Michigan right now - its COLD here.

I've taken kids at all ages between 1 week old and 5 years old - truthfully, anything under 1 year is pretty simple LOL - 12-24 months is still pretty easy - especially since there is 1 adult per child. Ages 24-48 months can be little trying LOL - but still manageable. 48 months and up it gets easier again.

The first trip we made was with an almost 3 year old, almost 2 year old and a 9 week old. We also traveled with friends who had a 22 month old, and a 12 week old as well.
The babies were super easy, we both wore them the entire trip (slings). I nursed anywhere and everywhere. We did go in december so we did not have to worry about the heat.

The second time we went back the babies were 15 months, and while they LOVED it, they loved the sound, the parades, the characters, it was slightly more difficult (slightly). They wanted to be mobile at that point, and it was harder to keep them entertained at that age. But, still a great trip.
I personally think all ages are fun,and very easily managable. But we are the get up and go type of people, and our kids are like that too.

Thats a question my dw had, anyone ever have any issues nursing at the parks or resorts

The only place I've EVER been asked to cover up in Disney is insid the BBB - I refused and the lady went on her way.

We took DS at 3, 5, 10 and 26 months. We never had any issues but we were blessed with the most easy going infant/toddler around. We had a ball every time.

We went for Halloween when my little one was 6 months & my twins were 2 1/2 - it was not bad - the baby was little enough to be in the stroller & would fall asleep while we could take the older two on rides. It is manageable and doable - take our time - no crazy races through the park- keep hydrated and you will be fine. Once the baby is over a year, he/she is not going to want to stay in the stroller so you will have two little ones running around!
