When is TIW worth it?

Does anyone know how this would work? We will be travelling with a party of 15(8 adults and 7 children.) If we get TIW, it is good for 10 people. We have reservations to go to several buffets. Will they automatically take the discount off the children's price instead of the adult's price. Anyone have any experience with this?

They won't force you to split the discount that way. You can ask them to make the check for 8 adults and 2 kids and a separate check for the other 5 kids.

If we split the check, and we decide to get TIW for my husband also, does anyone know if we could use my discount on one check and his discount on the other, even if we are all at the same table? TIA

Absolutely - I almost suggested that, in fact! Moreover, I could be wrong, but I don't think there's any way for them to tell if a card is associated with another card. It wouldn't be any different than if you had 2 family groups and each paid using their own TIW.

Speaking of CS at AK, they also take it at Restaurantasaurus. Great toppings bar there.

:)

I may have missed it - but CS will take TIW? All of them or only some. Is there a definitive list?
Do AP holders get a discount at CS, and TS?
Trying to decide whether to get TIW or DDP, like many others. Thanks for the help!

From Deb's unofficial -- looks like, you just split into (2) bills.

Benefits:

-- Members receive a 20% discount on all food and beverage (including alcohol) for up to 10 people at participating table-service Disney restaurants. Effective January 1, 2008 a charge of 18% gratuity will be added to all Tables in Wonderland table service transactions, regardless of party size. Effective March 1, 2009, at Victoria & Albert's, a 20% gratuity will be added to all transactions, regardless of party size.
-- Discount applies to member's check only.

-- You cannot use multiple cards for one check. For example, if you have a party of 14, you cannot use two TIW cards, unless you split your group into two smaller parties, each with its own check. Then each smaller group could use one card for a TIW discount.

-- Member must be present to receive discount.

-- Card must be presented when ordering.

I'm not sure about the splitting bills? Based on the above, it seems to be saying that you can't use 2 separate TIW cards, but it doesn't say you can use the same card with 2 separate groups?

I would think if you could just split bill up, and then turn around and hand the server the same TIW card, there wouldn't be a need to have a 10 person max.

Hmmm...? Tiger

I didn't "write" the benefits myself into the post, I merely pasted them right off Deb's website. The benefit copy I bolded below, is directly off the site. Just a cut and paste job :goodvibes

Sorry, should have posted this above...

I am not of 100% sure of Disney's policy, just copying off the website. So, others may have a better idea than me !

I don't have any issue with what you copied - I know it's from Deb's site. That blurb is up for interpretation, if not, then why have a 10 person max? There is no need for a max, unless it's just to keep checks small and easier to process through the computer during busy times?

Tiger :)

Now THIS is a great question. I'm going to take a guess that the answer is No - only good for drinks at TS locations.

I'm doing the math too as I will likely be buying an AP on my next trip.
