When is the best time to go to Hawaii?

Since Aulani has opened we have gone twice in September and once in February. We have plans to go next March.

The February and next year‘s March trip were planned because of whales! We spent a week on Maui in February where we had many sightings, we did not see any when we were in Aulani, but we did other things. Next March we will begin our visit with a weeks stay on Kuaui and then to Aulani.

Weather has been wonderful for all our visits. I think October would be beautiful as well. Winter visits have the added bonus of whale sightings!

Winter or summer season is great at Aulani. We go in March at the peak of spring break and it is very busy. No loungers unless you get up at the crack of dawn but if this doesn’t bug you then the weather is generally good. Waves can be big if you go to beaches outside Aulani so not great for very young kids.
Summer is also great. Water is warmer and mostly calm. Still busy at Aulani but it doesn’t seems as bad as March.
Hawaii is great year round really. Unlike Mexico and the Carribean, less likely to have bad weather during hurricane season.

Weather is almost constant year round, but more rain in the winter. Try to avoid the Asian holidays if you dislike crowds. Hawaii schools also have some holidays that don't align with the main land, these crowd the beaches. In general a BAD day in Hawaii is better than almost anywhere else on our planet.

We were on Oahu for 10 nights this past January. It rained and was overcast for about 5 of those days. We actually had two tours canceled because of the weather. The locals told me the Winters are the rainy months.
