When is Brazlian Tour Group season?

Well, that's a step, I suppose. I've been reading and replying to this board for many years, and each year, it's always the same questions about these
Brazilian Tour Groups..Obviously, Disney has done a lousy job handling these groups. Maybe they're afraid of offending them, wouldn't be PC; but they sure are offending all their other guests, who have to deal with their behavior and seemingly, just put up with it. It's like Disney has just rolled over.....We spend a lot of money for a Disney vacation, and it just ruins it when having to deal with large, rude, noisy tour groups...and Disney won't take a stand to make EVERYONE'S time more enjoyable!

Speaking of other groups, how many threads have we seen about Pop Warner and cheerleaders? Were you right there defending them?

No and I'm not about to. I'm not defending rudeness. Just stereotyping. And I might add I'm not the only one doing so.

I completely agree that Disney should have a policy when it comes to large groups and should enforce certain rules.

Yep! Disney has a problem with LARGE youth tour groups of all kinds, and there's nothing wrong with threads on the DIS about how to avoid them! Basically all we're doing is learning/researching on how to avoid certain large, sometimes rude and usually young/youth groups.

I agree that you aren't the only one doing so. Your defense is just more vocal. I don't think this is a case of stereotyping. It is a known fact that the groups are rude.

I have encountered many rude people at WDW and other large public venues over the years. I don't like it and I'm sure you don't either. But this thread has gotten way out of hand. It no longer has anything to do with Theme Park Attractions or Strategies. If you guys want to argue and debate this forever, why not go do it on the Community Board where the rest of the debates are?

Just a suggestion. :)

After hearing so much about how rude and obnoxious they were I got to wondering when do they come out? I have my trip for March planned so can't avoid them but might be on the look out.

Jaymie, the answer to your question seems to be from July 4th to late August. It seems as though you will avoid them.

My SIL is Brazilian and won't go to WDW when the Brazilian tour groups are there. :earboy2: She said a lot of the kids use the excuse of being so far from home and parents and in another country to do basically whatever they want. In some cases (this is according to her) rude behavior is expected or encouraged - sort of like a "tradition" thing. It does remind me of a fraternity party mentality. Her neices and nephews weren't allowed to go on one of these trips because their parents had heard so much about the rude, obnoxious behavior.

This is what I was talking about.

BTW, I have never seen a rude large group of people from China. From my understand manors are very valued in thier culture.

And while youths in gernal tend to get a bad rep, (for good reasons mostly) there tends to be more supervison and better communication. (with members of the group and familes back home.)

I agree, Disney should do a much better job of controling out of control tour groups and if they make no progress with the actual group they should contact the agency that plans the tours.

BTW, for the most part the people we meet at WDW are the most friendly and fun to talk to, all around the world! :grouphug:

I have had two bad experiences with large groups in WDW. They happened to be from South America, but I don't want anyone to think that this couldn't happen with groups from any of the other 6 continents...The way I deal with large, rude, obnoxious groups of people is to either chip away at thier ankles with my kid's stroller when they cut in front of us (which I am super cautious about with everyone else), I refuse to take my hands off the railings of the queues when moving through when others are sitting all over them, and when they approach me as if it is the running of the bulls I just pretend to sneeze without covering my mouth and make it a WET ONE! :umbrella:
Do unto others as they do to me! It is the only time I exhibit bad behavior in the parks at Disney!

Sounds like some fun ideas for anyone who is rude to us. I am taking notes.

And now, as a moderator, I gotta say this topic is now closed.

The original question was answered and it has since turned into a debate.
