When is Brazlian Tour Group season?

I must miss the tour groups when I go in August. Thank Goodness!!! From what I have read, I would rather go through another Hurricane than experience that !!!

I really hope they arent in WDW in October. I would hate to have to get locked up for beating the sense back into one of them.
She stopped pushing, but started muttering about 'rude Americans'.
I guess It would be rude for us to go to Brazil and actually get in line like we're supposed to? What a bunch of idiots.

I'm telling you right now, if I see this happen, I just might decide to stretch at the exact same moment they are walking by me. And they just might get accidentally hit in the throat. Oops.

Really, can we stop the PC Parade and Tolerance Lectures? If certain people by majority act in a consistent manner, it is not prejudice. It is observation. I've been there with the BTG's and indeed they are as unruly as I've ever seen. The only thing I've ever seen even close was the way DW was treated by random people when she had to use an ECV or wheelchair. But that is a pale comparison.

Are all Brazilians bad? No. Are all BTG's bad? With a few exceptions, yes. 70,000 disboard members can't all be wrong.

I once went on a trip to England and Scotland with a Canadian tour group. At several times, random strangers would hear us talking and because of our accents, would think we were American. They would mutter things like, "Stupid Americans." There was definitely a stereotype held by certain people in the places we visited that Americans were rude and obnoxious. We had both hotel staff, tour guide, and even the driver of our bus tell us how glad they were that we weren't American. This was wrong and stereotypical. Did they make this opinion up based on nothing? Probably not. They've probably seen a lot of American tour groups going through the UK and based on this concluded that Americans are rude and deserve this reputation. I still think it's wrong and stereotypical. Do you see what I mean?

PS - The word "arrogant" came up a lot too.

Rename this thread "When Tour Groups Attack!" :teeth:

I think that was more Mymatisse's point. That it's somewhat wrong to single out one group, when there are a LOT of groups that wreak havoc on Disney World.

Not agreeing or disagreeing. Just....well.....moderating! :)

W could go on for page after page of replies on the subject "how "Ugly [unitedstatesof]American" became a buzzword in Europe"

Meanwhile if Brazilians themselves visiting WDW would get after their fellow countryfolk to mind their manners, Brazilians will fade into the background and some other country's people will stand out like a sore thumb.

If that's so easy, why haven't Americans gotten after their fellow countryfolk to mind their manners when outside of the "promised land"? I'm sensing a real double standard here.

I have read everyone's posts and I really do understand the varying viewpoints on this. I guess if the question were posed in a different way I would maybe have not been as takenaback by it. The thing is, when is it ever socially approrpriate to start a thread singling out a nationality, ethnicity, or race? No one asks when Black family reunion season starts? Or when Asian tourist season starts?

I'm sure no one had or has any mal-intent with this thread, I just think people should be a little more socially/culturally sensitive when singling out a group based on nationality or ethnic origin. I have personally come across more rude Americans than I have South Americans in WDW, although the people who wear the same shirts and travel in a group are obviously more memorable.

There is no double standard here. If a group of Americans get out of line in another country they should be reigned in. If they start doing the same thing in other countries that these Brazillians do here, how long will it take before they start getting the crud beaten out of them? At least here security will escort them to the exit. Not cave their brains in. Like they very well may in Brazil.

Case in point: I worked for a couple of years at a retail store Meijer as Loss Prevention. I caught this Brazillian guy here doing an intership at the University of Louisville shoplifting. Really nice guy about it. No trouble at all. But he actually asked me if we were going to beat him. All I was doing was handcuffing him and taking him to my office for processing. He thought I was going to beat him because they evidently do that there for shoplifting. If it is so common place for that to occur for that reason, I think the people we cut in front of would do the same for irking them off like that.

My point: Atleast we dont beat the stupid out of 'em for it. And the double standard doesnt apply. We would get treated worse in their country for this.

This conversation has nothing to do with beatings and human rights. I really don't understand your point.

Hippychickali is stating that there is a double standard here. Like Americans can do whatever they want with no repercussions for their actions but that we are simply bashing another culture. My point is that there is NO double standard here. Americans can get treated just as bad if not worse in another country. Understand now? :guilty:

I don't get your point either. So you're saying because we don't beat them it's okay to stereotype them? :tilt: :upsidedow

There are groups of Americans getting out of line in all kinds of places including in America (hence the stereotype about Ugly Americans). However, that doesn't make it right for people to automatically view American tourists with hostility whether it's true or not.

So this somehow justifies stereotyping Brazilians? Like revenge? It is bad for Americans to be treated badly in other countries because of stereotype. It is equally as bad for Brazilians to be treated badly in America. I don't see how the first statement negates the second.

I really think you have gotten off to an entirely different area of discussion here. I believe Hippychickali and I were talking about sterotypes not what you're talking about.

Anyway, in response to YOUR comment though, just because you think Americans are treated poorly in other countries by your logic it's okay to treat non-Americans poorly in the United States? I just don't agree. But like I said.. I think this is getting into a whole different topic of conversation that has nothing to do with the original post or the comments most people have made responding to the orginal post. :confused3

(Back in a bunch are they?)

Why dont you please go back and read this thread from the top to the bottom. The reason the Brazillians are getting the brunt end of this is because it is the Brazilian tour groups DOING THE STUPID STUFF. If it was the Canadians we wouldnt be talking about the Brazillians. We would be talking about the Canadians! If it were lots of different countries tour groups we would be talking about the tour groups in general. Do you see a trend there?

OMG. I'm not completely sure you are reading my posts. Are you? I mean... what?? "it's okay to treat non-Americans poorly in the United States?". HUH?? I never said it was okay. In fact I said:

Try reading my ENTIRE post before responding. Thanks.

I'm sorry but i'm not in agreement with you. I don't see it that way and I think if you go back and read all the post yourself both Hippychickali and I have both made well thought out rational points about this subject. If you have a different opinion that's fine, but you must accept that I for one don't see things from the same perspective that you do.

Exactly! And I don't care what nationality you'd be talking about, it wouldn't be right.
