When getting a Hotel would you rather

We actually were at a hotel overlooking the Freedom Tower in Manhattan earlier this week. I failed to mention that in addition to not caring about the size of the room or the view, I'm cheap. And DH's client had a limit of how much $$ they would reimburse for his hotel bill. Because I'm cheap, and the reimbursement limit was $365, I booked the smallest, least expensive room in the hotel, and we ended up on the opposite side of the hotel from the Freedom Tower, down on the second floor. The view stunk. But I just walked outside and around the building to look at the view. That was enough for me.

Bigger room. I'll be spending most of my time asleep, no need for a view.

I'm too cheap to ever have to worry about the answer to that question. I am a product of my environment. Growing up my father loved to travel and we did travel a lot, but his favorite saying about hotels was, " I'm only renting it, not buying it." Translation- we always slept cheap. :teeth:

That was my old man's theory as well.

We saw a lot of views of deserts and parking lots.

:D

Have a bigger room or a better view ?

both have qualities I want but if I had to pick I think I would go with the view

Depends what the view was of: beach front, Eiffle Tour, Cauldron of Firastefani etc then view, most other places space

My dad too, we grew up with if we do it this way we can go away twice thinking so we often stayed in backpackers, if we had a private room it was luxury and our own bathroom living like kings.
We had a van so often slept in that if we were just heading up to go skiing.
DH has never slept in a backpackers in his life and the bought repulses hi

We are two peas in a pod on this. That was my dad's exact thinking too. Make the dollar stretch longer. He grew up a poor farm boy, so he had never really travelled until he married my mother. She used to joke that she could never keep him home. I will confess that we slept in our van too. LOL! I am not familiar with the term backpackers? Is that like a hostel?

Yes a hostel

They could put me in the "closet suite" with no view (so long as I can get out...I'm claustrophobic) ....the only requirement I have is that housekeeping cleans well between guests and sheets are for sure fresh when the room is turned. Febreeze should never be used in lieu of sheet changing. Beyond that, I'm cool.

Well, I think you're cool.

Besides you can just sleep in the Tiki Room.

;)

neither are important to me

When I'm looking for a hotel the most important thing for me is location and public transport options.
Then when I have found a location my next important thing is budget. A hotel for me is just somewhere to sleep, so I couldn't care less about size of room or view.

I have often stayed in Pod Style budget hotels, which don't have a window or any furniture other than a bed. You pay extra for towels, housekeeping, TV and Wifi access.
