When getting a Hotel would you rather

I vote "view". We actually cruise more often than we stay in hotels - those cabins make practically any hotel room seem spacious. The only thing that makes me really unhappy is a hotel room without a bathtub. A couple we've stayed in were newer properties that went to the fancier double-shower set up in the bathrooms and I'm a tub person. :(

Depends on the location. If it's a hotel off the interstate exit, I'm not impressed with views of parking lots, gas stations, and Waffle Houses, so a larger room is preferable. If at the beach or in the city, I'd like a nice view, not overlooking the alley or dumpster/service area.

Going to Chicago in a few weeks. There was an option on the website stating "high floor, city and lake views," so we chose that. Hopefully we'll get it.

LOVE the double-headed shower! Soooo not a tub person:)

My first thought is view. (I'm always taking pictures out windows on trips!) But I guess it might depend on how long we're staying. Even with just three of us, after a while, we don't want to be crowded.

If it's all 5 of us, I'm all about having more room.

But if it were just my husband and I, the view would be lovely.

This. If traveling with my kids, I need the space. If it's just my husband with me, then I appreciate a room with a nice view.

Depends on the trip. If it's a family vacation we spend little time in the room and I'd opt for space over view. If just me and my husband the trip is likely more low key and I'd choose the view.

Depends the location of the hotel ( is if the view is worth it) and if the kids are with us which right now they usually are. With them, more space is better. If would rather try to get a one bedroom suite with a sofa bed if I can than a better view especially as they are getting older.

If there's a balcony, I prefer a better view. If not, I'd like a bigger room.
Exactly this.
I get up earlier than most of my family, so if I have a balcony, I spend the extre alone time out there with a cup of coffee. But if it's a motel with an outdoor walkway and being outside means the neighbors will be tripping over me, then I'd prefer the bigger room.

It's almost exactly the same for me. I'm up much earlier than DH so I'll sit on the balcony for a while before I feel like heading to the pool or wherever. Plus we like to have a drink out there at the end of the day or before we go for dinner.

A bigger room. I have this weird thing about having the curtains open, so they're always closed. The view doesn't matter to me at all.

I try to get BOTH if we're going to be staying there for more than 1 night. :)

But if I had to choose, then the size of the room matters more than the view. DH hates having to sit on the bed, or in a straight chair, to watch TV at the end of the day when we're in our room to relax before going to sleep. We like having a separate sitting area with couch, recliner, etc.

If our room has a nice view, we love having a balcony then too. Always enjoy sipping our morning coffee on the balcony, enjoying a nice view.

If we're traveling and just stopping at some random hotel to sleep, then neither the size of the room or the view really matters.

If I'm at my destination a view would be nice. :)

We leave in an hour for our trip to Mackinaw City, MI. Our hotel is right on the straits with a view of both the bridge and the island. :yay:

We just got back yesterday from our U.P. trip, the bridge was beautiful as always. On our way up to the U.P. we saw workers walking up the green cables to the top. Yikes!!

Hope you're having a GREAT time!!

I'm paying extra to get a view of Niagara Falls later this year. I did have some internal debates about it initially but the view won.

I have, when young, slept on the beach ;)

Unless I am near the ocean, I don't care about the view. I would rather have more room. Besides I usually have my dogs with me and I am either on the computer or out shopping with the dogs.

I absolutely do not care about the view in a hotel room. When we travel with our two tall boys, ages 21 and almost 18, want a decent-sized room with enough bed space for everyone. If we can get three beds or a sofa sleeper, I much prefer that over a view. I also like rooms that have the sink outside of the bathroom, plus a microwave, fridge and free wi-fi. We don't spend a ton of time in our room when we travel so we don't tend to sit and look out the window. A few months ago, we stayed right on Bourbon St. in New Orleans. We had a great view of a brick wall. But, it was clean and safe, the price was low enough that we were able to get two connecting rooms, and we could walk out the door straight into the French Quarter. It worked for us!

Depends on why I'm there.

We're DVC (AKL and BW) and always go with "view". While traveling for business I have a 3rd option: room far away from freeway!

With kids I really prefer a one bedroom suite so we have space to get away from the kids when they go to bed before us. When I travel with my dh I like a hotel with character.
