when do your kids get out for summer vacation?

Central/Western NY Schools .....

Typically start the Wed. after Labor Day and end around the third week of June. This year Rochester area is out on June 23rd. We usually have a few snow days built into the schedule so unless it is a bad winter the schedule stands.

well I am beginning to think that I should reschedule our upcoming trip to the end of august time frame. ANY one go at that time? I have gone the second week of June and that was manageable... this year we are going May 29th so a week earlier... but I don't know

I am going out on a limb here, but I think you are getting odd results. I don't think anywhere near half the country gets out of school that early. What I think is going on is that more people who have kids getting out early are interested in this topic/poll. Anytime in Augest is too darn hot if you ask me. I didn't check where you are from, but we live in Texas and if Florida is anything like Texas in Augest it will be very hot. There is a thread "First week of June" with almost everyone saying it is not too crowded that time of year, crowded but not over crowded. I think one person said they thought it was too crowded last year that time.

I agree with the above poster who thinks the poll may be skewed. I know I only read this thread because I'm going June 3-11, so I want to know about crowds. It looks like a lot of the major cities are getting out mid-June. I'm a teacher, we have 180 days with some snow days built in (but haven't had to take any yet... thank heavens!), we started 8/25 and get out 5/27.

It depends on what part of the country you are in. I'm in NYC, we also have 180 days of school.(I think this is pretty standard)
However, this school year didn't start until September 8 and will end June 25. Next school year may start September 13 and it will end the last week in June.I bet most of the schools getting out after June in 17 are in the northeast.

I've been to disney is August. It was very hot, but New York is also very hot in August. It really didn't bother me at all.

The nice thing about having school start so late here, is that we get to go to disney during the summer and pay value season prices.

I have not read all the posts so maybe you guys have moved on to another subject but for what it is worth this has been our experience. We have been going the last few days of May and usually around the first 10 days of June for about 12 years now. We have found the crowds to be very manageble during that time. One time we were there until during the third week of June and it seemed to me as though there was a huge difference in the size of the crowds starting around the 15th of June. But we do not go during Memorial day weekend and stay away form MK on the first day of Saturday. The crowds are terribel that day. Also keep in mind that the park hours probably are not as long as they will be later in the summer.

Our kidlets here in Misery...uh, I mean Missouri, get out May 21st...not including snow days. We've been lucky so far this year...no snow days. If there are, too bad, we are leaving 21 May come hell or highwater (or snow!) Can't wait! Hopefully the week BEFORE Memorial Day won't be too bad!

thank you much for your insight from your years of going at that time. We went this last summer from june 7 to the 15th and it was pretty manageable... but crowds were getting larger as we left. thx again for your comments
