When do the lights turn on?

I want to see the neon lights in carsland go on when we are there. Is there a spacific time they go on or does it just depend on when the sun goes down? We'll be there towards the end of march if that makes a difference.

It's at dusk - when the sun goes down. If there is a specific time they won't tell you. At least they didn't when I asked. I was told "dusk."

Ok then.... When is dusk? I dont really dont know what is considered "dusk". To me, if its not pitch black out, its still light. I am not good at paying attention to when it is getting dark. If I had a round about time, I could set an alarm at least. Is there an approx time it normally happens?

Sorry there is no set time for dusk as it changes every day. A CM will not give you an exact time when the lights turn on, but I say dusk is right after the sun sets, when the sun cannot be seen, but there still some light in the sky. Very confusing but hopefully you get what I’m trying to say, it seems to work for me. Also around this time, I would look for CM’s and other guest standing in the middle of the street, this is a pretty good sign that something is about to happen. Good Luck!

I have been able to get an exact time from a CM. Just gotta find the right one. There is a podium at the far end by the fire station/courthouse, across from RSR. The CM there pulled a paper out of the podium and read me the exact time.

If can't get exact time just check something like weather.com for sunset time and be there then. Should happen soon after.

We also got the exact time last summer. We asked the CM at the front of MJJ, and they pulled out a sheet of paper that had the time it was scheduled for. It turned out to be accurate, too! I would just keep asking different CM's in Carsland until someone can give you the information.

It's definitely at dusk, when you can't see the sun anymore, but it's not totally dark yet. Most of the lamposts will already be on though. Last year we were there the end of January. We were parked at the start of Rte. 66 watching the Pixar Parade at around 5:30. I was so distracted by the parade that when my husband kept nudging me I didn't pay attention and when I turned around I had just missed the neon coming on.

I will not miss it this year though! I will be there in March too and definitely want to see it and ride RSR at night! Dusk will come later though, especially since the time changes (Spring forward) on March 9th. Pay attention to what time dusk is for you a few days before you leave and then plan accordingly.

It will be right at or close to the official sunset. For instance the sunset time for DLR for tomorrow is 5:46. The lights came on at 5:45 tonight. Look at the weather forecast for official sunset time and be at CarsLand watching around that time.

Yep. We were there last night and heard 'dusk' and used the sunset time and it was within a minute. I'd get there a few minutes early to be safe. Right now the Pixar Parade just finishes up before the lights so plan for this on your route to Carsland or watch the parade from the beginning of Carsland and you'll be right there for the lights.
