Can I borrow 2006 points in January, 2005, or will I have to wait until August 2005?

You can borrow them for any stay starting 1 August 2005 and within you're 2005 use year. Otherwise, it's just the 11/7 month window to worry about.

You can borrow the points that you will get in August '06 for any ressie to stay from August '05 through the end of July '06.

You can borrow them right now. But it has to be for reservations during the period noted by Dean and bobbiwoz.
