We booked our trip with a travel agent. I am going to have her set up my ADRs. Am I able to tweak them on my own later or will any tweaking have to go through her?
Well I guess that all depends... When I do ours with our travel agent, when she books them and confirms them, she then gives us our ressie number. Once you have that, you can call back and tweak them as necessary. I don't know if they let you tweak with out a ressie number. Ask them how it works and if they will change for you. Some places will only do first ressie and if you need to change, you have to do it, some will do all levels.
Yes you can as a TA we book our clients ADR's and give them the confirmation number, I have one that we booked all of his and then he want and booked his own, so I then cancelled what I booked. It's whatever will make the client happy.
I just booked with a TA for the first time for a WDW trip and I booked my own ADR's. All I have to do is attach our reservation # to the ADR. My TA did offer to book them for me but I like changing them a million times. I think she would quit her job permanently if I had to call her to book/cancel all of my ADR's.
Make sure that the TA books the ADRs with *your* phone number attached. You need the phone number to call them up via the online interface.
I recently had my one tough one ('Ohana dinner) booked via the TA, and I couldn't call it up. She suggested I try it with the company phone number, that they sometimes just use the default number. (Not sure just how TA reservations work - maybe the agent just uses the caller ID). No sale.
So she called dining herself, and somehow the reservation number was booked with no phone number at all, and even though it was booked during the "+10" window, it was booked in such a way that it wasn't associated with my resort reservation.
I agree with whomever said that it's more fun to book them yourself. For February reservations, even the popular places seem to be wide open, so it's kind of a low pressure situation.
A few years back I booked with a TA. She was nice but really did not know Disney well. I realized I was learning more than she knew and did not want to bug her. When I tried to make changes to my ressies, the Disney person told me I did not "own" it the TA did. I learned and booked my own after that!

I agree completely with EVERYTHING coconuts just said. Lol! My TA would go INSANE if i asked her to change all the ADRs I changed in the past week alone! I've always booked with a TA and i've always always made my own ADRs. Never once did she make them for me. She gives me my confirmation/booking #, and i book the ADRs that way. its so much easier! I cannot even imagine asking her to book ADRs for me, im way too anal about them. Lol! I definitely think you should book them yourself. Its more fun and you get more flexibility.
Yes, but do ask for your reservation number if you think you'll need to change something. If she is willing to book them for you, it's just as a courtesy. She does not make commission on booking ADRs. Also, if you have some must-do's, you may want to book those yourself. Few agents are online or on the phone at 7am on your 180th day.
