What's with the Jesus skywriting?

But are you sure you don't want to try my restaurant? I promise it will be your best restaurant experience ever!
I love my restaurant! And my restaurant loves you- and will wait for you to come and experience its wonderful cuisine!
My restaurant was built for your dining pleasure- why can't you see that! I love my restaurant!
The Bill of Rights guarantees all Americans Freedom of Dining! See Zagat p 54, paragraph 3 for proof on how wonderful my restaurant is!
85% of Americans have gone to my restaurant at least once, that should tell you how great it is!

Ahh...you know, I do have my own favorite restaurant and I really like their menu better. :rotfl:

Jesus as a philosopher is wonderful. There's no greater role model, in my view, than Jesus Christ. It's just a shame that most of the people who follow him and call themselves Christians act nothing like him. - Bill Maher

There are some Christians out there "spreading the news" in a way that is totally counterproductive. That isn't a good thing from a Christian standpoint, or a non-Christian standpoint.

Exactly the reason I don't open my door to the JH's anymore even when it's painfully obvious that I'm home!

1 Samuel 15 (New International Version)

1 Samuel 15
1 Samuel said to Saul, "I am the one the LORD sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the LORD. 2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy [a] everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' "

Lovely, isn't it? :sad2:

Or the quote from Ghandi (I am paraphrasing) I love your Christ, I hate your Christians. Your Christians give your Christ a bad name.

But one can not forget all of the charities that are out there that are Christian orginazations going and acting like him. StarveHunger is a program my church joined up with to help raise money to feed children in Africa. Since the program started, they have raised nearly 100,000,000 and possibly are related to the reduced the death rates of 40000 to 29000 a day.

I could go into a long list of things just what my church is done. Just because someone says they are Christian, does not necessarily mean they are. But as I do not know their heart, I will let God decide.

And once again in the past couple of pages, I see imaginary friend again.

Wow! this whole thing is amazing!
IMO, the bottom line is this, the skywriter has a right to his "free speech" method as long as he is not breaking the no-fly zone laws, right? If you have been on this thread bashing the Christians for saying what they believe in this ok I'll say it "flamboyant" manner then you should also be against every political activist that claims to be guided by any sort of spiritual principles be they Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, or whatever. The great thing about our country and the separation of church and state is that there is no state church(think of the Church of England for example). We can practice whatever religion we want and tell whoever we want and if what you really want is for the Christians to shut up then you better shut up, too, because you can't tell them not to say what they think and say what you think at the same time. This is a DEMOCRACY and everyone gets equal time and an equal voice and the day that you stand up and say that this group or that shouldn't be allowed to say what they think is the day this democracy is torn down and you spit on the graves of every man and woman who got us this far. Now, who wants to argue with this? :furious:

That's the part (the bolded) that really gripes me.
I'm really against those people.
However, we were discussin' the skywriter jackin'
with our chosen fantasy of DisneyWorld rather
than HIS (the skywrier's) chosen fantasy world
which was kinda like an alien invasion to me, of course :lmao:

The wonderful things Christians are doing around the world in Jesus' name aren't newsworthy in most cases.

Wouldn't charity be better served if it was totally anonymous?

And this I can understand and sympathize with, U.R., but if the price of freedom of speech is having some guy write Jesus above Epcot every once in awhile is it really such high price to pay? We all have more important things to worry about right? Just think of this all you folks that are annoyed with the skywriter. At least you're in/have been in the WDW and had a great time, tomorrow I was supposed to be leaving for my first trip there in 20 yrs and my BFF and traveling companion has lung cancer and is now way to sick for us to go. Life could be alot worse. Lets just try to get along. :grouphug:

I am really sorry about your friend having lung cancer.

I went to Epcot this afternoon, and come back and this thread now has alot more pages. I'm only up to page 38. All this talk about restaurants and religion on pages 37 and 38 made me think of what a friend once said,

"I go to McDonald's religiously. I love Big Macs. They make me feel so good. I eat a Big Mac every time I go. However, I still haven't turned into a Big Mac."

Absolutely! My point was to counter the argument that Christians ruin Christianity.

Man, I'm sorry to hear about your friend havin' lung cancer, that's a bad one; I just lost a friend to that myself. I don't want to start on all the folks I've lost. Anyway, back to the skywriter, the guy is invasive coz it is in the sky. If God made the sky and I agree it's one of the beauties of our world, leave the dang sky alone! Quit pollutin' it with the smoke and fuel emissions and for me, the thought. I'd love to get along and usually I do with most folks but religious zealots are just spreadin' bad ju-ju.

Usually they are orginizations with many people, so technically, it is as anonymous as you want it to be. Of course, I can't really see WorldVision (StarveHunger creators) doing what it does in private like that.

When or if you had a child, don't you expect them to obey and do what you say? Right. Same with a God that creates a species. In my opinion.

Huh? So all of the priests or fathers who molested/killed/farmed little children were just darn all right and hunky-dory in your book? They are to obey and "do what you say" just because they are your children??

If your insinuation is that God created this species to obey him, no matter what, then I have to say...wow. Please don't pass the Cool-Aid Jim.

I'm so not getting this post. Sorry. :guilty:

:confused3 Could you elaborate on that a bit?

Well, seems to me the beneficiary wouldn't have a "face", so to speak, to have to feel beholden to and the benefactor can have the satisfaction of giving just for the sake of giving, without having to be acknowledged for it.

I guess I misunderstood your point, jimmie. Sorry.
