Let me start off by saying I LOVE OLD KEY WEST!

I dislike the hard as a rock beds.

If there are better, softer beds available there, someone PLEASE PLEASE let me know! This past weekend we stayed in 3024 and the beds were so hard they didn't even bounce. When we were there in August, we were in a 4600 building. When you've spent an exhausting day at the parks, it really doesn't matter. You just crash. But sheesh! Maybe they should take some of their new incoming money from extensions and opportunities to add on at OKW (we were offered this while there. We own @ SSR) to buy some new beds!

I love all other aspects of this property. This was our first stay as DVC members ourselves. Previously we have gone on the shirt tails of friends who own. OKW is so quaint and homey. The pools are awesome! I'm really thinking of adding on there!

We love the "hard as rock" beds, get a stiff neck on a soft bed.

I guess that Radisson solved that problem with the sleep number beds! Other than that, there isn't an easy answer for the hospitality industry on this one!

We are staying at OKW in 3 weeks. Never been there.I hope the beds aren't like that. We'll sleep on the floor!:lmao:

Our only complaint about OKW for the past 11 years has been those rock hard beds! I always get a horrible back ache from them.

I'd sure support the Sleep number bed idea!:thumbsup2 That's what I have at home!

stayed at OKW a few times and yes the beds are rock hard. That's the only thing we didn't like about OKW

I loved those rock hard beds. But of course everyone is different.

We are new DVC owners (paperwork was started today). I'm hoping to stay at OKW in the spring. I like hard as rock beds so this isn't a problem for me but might be for my DH.

What about the pull out in the 1 bedrooms? Are these comfortable? My daughters will be coming with us and I'm worried about them on the pull-out. I've slept on pullouts where you could feel where they folded.

Maybe I'll just fix the problem by bringing my feather bed with me next time. (Living IN Florida has its advantages!)

It's good to hear that I am not the only one who has experienced this and that it has not deterred people from staying there. I am glad that some of you out there are enjoying the beds. My DH had no problem with them. Of course, he's in the military and he's just thankful for any safe place to lay down his head at night. But I know that some like FIRM beds. That's why they are made!

how are the other beds compared to OKW beds? specfically BCV...my wife's back is sensitive and she would hate to be on a rock hard bed,

Most of the OKW pullouts are the new memory foam type, and are VERY comfortable. There are still a couple of the old style ones out there though.

I can attest after our recent visit, that the beds at BWV are SOFT! Very soft. Way too soft. Maybe we should stay at OKW next time.

I wake up stiff & sore from hard beds & walk like I'm about 110 uears old when I get up! We stayed at OKW in Aug. & I couldn't believe how hard those beds were - there wasn't an ounce of give! We also have a Select Comfort bed at home and my sleep # is only 25 (VERY soft)!! The Radisson certainly does have the right idea!:thumbsup2

This is so true. We couldn't get over how comfortable the bed was at OKW. But we prefer hard beds. Loved the bed at SSR as well but BWV was a tad too soft for our liking.

We just got back from OKW and didn't find the beds to be rock hard. Both DH and I thought our bed was very comfortable and we slept great! I guess we've been either sleeping on rocks all our lives or hate soft beds.

Add me to the fan list of the OKW beds! We just got back last night and DH and I both thought the beds were great. I'm a 65 and he's a 45 on our sleep number bed at home and I thought the bed at OKW would be way to hard for him. I was wrong though - his nightly snore fest told me he thought the bed was "just right". ::yes::

We also love the OKW beds. They are as comfortable as the resort itself. I hope the beds at AKV are as comfortable when we stay there.

I so agree with this!!! We stayed there last Jan. and not only was a rock softer than the bed it was sloped so that I rolled down to DH all night. I complained and the came and fixed the frame the 2nd night, it was still as bad. They came the next day and said it looked fine...it was a lonnng week!!!

Complained that it was too hard or that you had to meet your husband half way??:rolleyes1

I also found the beds at OKW to be rock hard.
Im talking we checked in at 3am and I was up by 7am calling Mousekeeping asking for an eggcrate "rock hard". We stayed 2 nights and I dont think I would have made it a week. We were in a studio before our cruise last year.

OTOH, I LOVE the beds at SSR. I think those are the most comfortable beds at any of the DVC's, especially the King.
The new mattresses at BCV are nice also and a definite improvement, but a little firm.

I thought the bed at BWV was hard, but we only stayed 1 night so I just didnt think I gave that a fair assessment.

AKV studio beds seem to be comfortable, but again, we only stayed 1 night so I will know more next month.

Just to keep the balance of this thread going, we also LOVE the beds at OKW :thumbsup2
