What's up with Billy Joel?

I heard he drove his car into a 94 year old woman's house on Sunday....wow. It's his 3rd car accident where he's totaled a car in 2 years. I know his ex Christie Brinkley said she was not going to allow her teenage daughter in the car with him, and that was after the 1st accident where they suspected alcohol.

I wonder what's really going on with him, of if he's just that bad of a driver.

I think he's a drunk, wasn't he in re-hab not too long ago? I wouldn't let my kids in the car with him either!

Something's wrong somewhere, be it drugs, alcohol or some health related problem.

Sometimes people also have realllyyy bad luck. Case in point-DS was in 5 accidents in 2 years about 10 years ago. Person went through stop sign hit her with her lawyer in her car, lol! Multiple other ones but never her fault and she was never surcharged! You never know.

I did see on the news last night that he wasn't given a field sobriety test because there was no indication that alcohol was involved in this latest accident.

I think he needs to hire a driver.

In addition to some possibillity of substance abuse, there could be a blood glucose problem, a seizure disorder, vision problems, circulation issues where n irregularity in his heart rate causes a "blip" in circulation to his brain(commonly known as syncope).

In any event, a full physical is indicated, unless he knows that it is a substance abuse issue. Then rehab is indicated. Or, pay a driver and don't get behind the wheel of a car, because eventually, he's going to kill someone.

That's just it...it's shocking he's not hurt someone else in these accidents. The first one he wrapped his car around a tree and he's lucky he survived.

I guess it could just be bad luck, however he's got to be going pretty fast to crack a house foundation with his car.

I just read this news item. It says it was not alcohol or drug related, he simply lost control of his vehicle on a wet road, and slid across the road and into the house.

Wow, pretty harsh. Is there some fact that you can base this statement on? People have accidents all the time, but if it is a celebrity, it makes headlines. To say someone is going to kill someone becasue he has has auto accidents in the past is a bit of a stretch.

Well, your minor fender bender is pretty common...but running you car into your own house? You have to wonder what on earth is going on with him.

I mean, my sister almost ran our car into our house (she ended up in the backyard instead) but she was 15 and only had a permit. For an experienced driver, unless there was something wrong with the car, it's just odd.

I think he's had a combo of both accidents...ompaired by drugs a/o alcohol in the first, and the other 2 both involved wet roads I think...and going too fast. I don't think he's the best at judging conditions. Also were all 3 at night? Perhaps he also has difficulty w/perception in the dark. At any rate, I agree....time for a driver.

that stretch of road in Bayville is horrible. a really nasty curve. there was a motorcycle accident on that road, and the motorcycle hit the same house billy Joel hit.

my ex husband had even more accidents than Billy Joel had, in a similarly short period of time. my ex wasn't drunk or high or ill. he was just a lousy driver.

he used to make fun of the way I drive, that I was "too cautious". but (knock wood) I've never really had an accident with my car.

in the two accidents last year, the Suffolk police didn't feel the need to do a field sobriety test on billy Joel. the same is true about the Nassau police and the most recent accident.

can it possibly be that he's just a bad driver??????

??? What you are saying is if someone has 2 accidents, no drugs or alcohol involved, then they ARE going to kill someone in the future? Would that be in a traffic accident? Or another way? Because I don't see that one thing guarantees the other. That is equal to saying that the last car crashes were involving a certain type of car, so the next one is going to be the same type of car. That is not logical.

I'm a snob driver. I don't understand these kinds of accidents.
Let's see, wet pavement on a killer curve... slow down silly!
It's a lot easier to lay a morocycle down on a slick curve, but
a car sliding into a house....must have been really travelling!
Love his music, he left rehab early...seems like he has trouble
controlling himself.

I suppose you were in the car with him, or you responded to the scene?

no, you couldn't have been, you're not even on Long island.

the police officers didn't find anything to suggest that drugs or alcohol were involved.

guess you know more than the highly trianed officers of the Suffolk County police depoartment, huh?

one of those accidents landed him in the hospital. if there was something amiss, don't you think it would have been discovered by the doctors?

Ditto, the first 2 were wake up calls, I guess he missed them. He's lucky he didn't kill the woman when he drove into her house. What happens if next time, the next person isn't so lucky?

Well, my theory is that he's a lifelong resident of that area, he should know by now what roads are bad and where he needs to slow down. If that is a really bad road, and it's raining, a good driver would probably slow down.

In the police report it said he left a 6 foot skid mark, rode over a series of bushes and crashed into this house.

I don't know him personally but all I know is that i'd never get in the car if he were driving (and perhaps i'll stay off of the sidewalks also
:o )

My husband works in the auto collision industry, and he always says, if you are going to have one, 2 more follow.

He has regular customers.
