What's the most change you've ever cashed in?

OCD lady here. Yes, I keep change. BUT, it is seperated in a dip server that has 3 bowl. Beside it is another glass bowl. All coins are seperated: quarters in one, dimes in another, etc. I roll the coins every Saturday morning. I plan on taking the rolled coins to the bank before our September trip. I have been saving since Jan. 1 and so far have over $40.00. rolled. We seldom use cash anymore so it is slow going on getting change.

I bought a big Coke bottle bank at Ice Station Cool.

Filled a quarter of the way full, the Coke bottle bank yielded $440.

We have a pepsi bottle and it almost up to the top.  Sounds like good savings for the trip in Aug

The most we ever got was a bit over $800.

I love saving change for vacation spending money. Actually, It can be addicting. I find myself using a $5, regardless if I have a one or not, to get a soda out of the machine at work because then that will give me $4.25 to go in the change jar.

I refuse to spend change anymore. We probably aren't going to WDW till December of 2010 :sad1: , but I'm determined to have over $1000 in change when the time comes around!! :rotfl:

We actually track our loose change (we use Quicken and literally track every penny spent and saved - yes, it's a sickness ;)). We cash it in before it gets to $100 because our credit union charges a fee (I think 2%) for any amount over $100.

This is funny - I just took my rolled coins to the bank! I only had $64 with that, however I also had a $25 savings bond my grandma gave to me when I was born, and it had accumulated interest, so THAT was worth ~$125!

We don't use cash very often, so it takes a lot longer to accumulate change.

I was thinking of taking our change bucket to Chevy Chase today. It's a Costco pretzel jar and is probably 1/2 full. It's really heavy. I'll probably split it and do half today. Hope I hit the jackpot!

DH just took his work "jar" to Commerce and called to say he had $175! And that is a little nothing collection- we have another at home going strong.
2 years ago we cashed in and had a $462 payday which paid for our driving and lodging on the way down to disney.

Just for my personal change, from all of last summer, cashed in before our 2007 WDW trip I had nearly $200.00! :goodvibes

I started saving ALL of my change again in September 2007 when we returned from WDW, it is earmarked as our "tip money" for our 2008 WDW free DDP trip! :thumbsup2

I cannot even imagine what a whole years worth will be! :rotfl:

We are fortunate that our local credit union (we are long-time members but really do not do much of our banking there) has the machine (teller takes it into a back room, machine counts it, a slip is generated) and there is no charge for it!

How much did I get? $431.16

WOW! I did the coinstar thing last week, haven't done it before, but saw the thread here about GC's.....got 135.00 !!! I was shocked,I thought it was going to be like 25.00! I got the Amazon GC,I buy some groceries from them, and got all my kids upcoming gift items with it! woohoo- it felt like getting stuff for free!:cool1:
though as sensible Dh pointed out it was just his money in another form.....

I don't ever let it get over $100 because that money could be getting interest in the savings account. I cashed it last week and had about $35, but that was after only about a month. We're already up to almost $8 and I have change to add in. And it doesn't include dollar bills. I'm sure in the next month we'll have another $30 or more. I'll cash it probably around May 9th, then again around June 9th right before we leave for WDW! Between now and then I'll probably easily get another $50.

I bought a cute wooden bowl for a buck somewhere on sale, and keep it on the kitchen counter by the back door. Empty my pockets several times a week -- when full, it's $60-80. Fortunately, my bank doesn't charge a fee if you deposit it to savings -- you run it through the machine and take the slip to the teller. I'd rather do that 4-5 times a year than try to haul $500 worth -- $60 is heavy enough!

I do try to time a deposit for right before a trip, however, so that I feel like I'm getting a free dinner or something!

Anyone know of a bank who does not charge a fee to cash in change in Western New York area?:confused3

$985.....it paid for a good portion of our december trip last yr

yesterday i cashed $300 worth of change for my upcoming august trip

A little shy of $600.. My son-in-law has a good friend who is a bank manager so we don't have to be bothered with labeling the rolls, paying fees, etc..

Believe it or not, there are a ton of people out there who don't even consider change to be "real" money.. They would just as soon leave it on the counter in a store or restaurant or toss it on the ground outside of the grocery store..:confused3

Go figure..

I usually take mine in to the bank every two or three months so it isn't too heavy to carry all at once. Typically $100 - $150. Highest was about $250--and very heavy! *LOL*

We got about 500 or so in Aug. 06that we cashed in at Commerce Bank - since then, we've been saving change and or bills - i'm hoping to have about 800 for our trip in Aug. 09! Will probably cash in the end of this summer - can use that money towards our airfare and then will have 1 year to save more for spending!

My husband set the same type of thing up :) I wish we had automatic coin machines; best I can find is one that will give you change...which is not helpful.

Last/only time we took our change in it was around $150 which I sorted and rolled by hand (7 years at Safway and *that's* what I take away). It's kind of a weird situation here...you could save a lot because of the $1 and $2 coins, but using your bank card is so common that cash is really rare. We're also just getting the "round up" bank accounts...which I might take a look at.

Once we move I am going to set up a real jar. Right now I just have a small bucket that I drop change into. I also pull change from it too though.

If I do it religously I can probably get a great amount. I can pull at least $3 every few days from the washing machine due to change DH leaves in his pants!!
