What's the likelyhood of getting a reservation calling 9 weeks prior to our vacation?

We should be closing on our DVC resale by the end of the week and we most likely won't be in the system for 10 days after that. So in about 3 weeks we can make a reservation. So it will be approximately 9 weeks prior to our arrival. What's the likelyhood of getting a studio at BCV, BWV or VWL? Is that going to be impossible or is there a good chance? I was hoping that because the week we are looking to stay is low season (first full week of Feb), that maybe we could get into one of the above mentioned resorts? If not those, what about SSR or OKW? Anybody familar with making making last minute reservations?
thanks!

You won't know until your try. Remember though, what WDW considers low seasons are often the busiest seasons for DVC because of the lower points required. Good luck to you.

Last April I was able to book a 1 bedroom at Boardwalk with 1 week notice.
You just never know.....

Oh yeah and I was able to book a 2 bedroom at Beach club for this coming February a few weeks ago.

So I've either been very lucky or it can be done somewhat easily. :confused3

Also be prepared to use the waitlist(s). You may when you first call have to do a split stay if the whole time is not available. You can be on as many waitlists as you want, so consider that as a back up plan.

I would be surprised if there were any studios available at your top choices. OKW and SSR would probably be the only options as there's just more availability there on a regular basis. Just hope for the best and see what happens...good luck!

I think you will have a chance for the 1st week in Feb.

We made reservations about 9 weeks out when we closed on our DVC. There was spotty availability everywhere but WLV (as in, a 1 bedroom on Saturday a 2 bedroom on Tuesday). OKW and SSR both had better variety in their openings. We ended up doing a split stay that trip.

Thought of another question....what is harded to reserve this close to our travel, a studio or a 1 bedroom???

It really just depends. You will find MS to be great. If you ask for a studio at BWV for xx-xx, they will come back and say, the only thing available is a 2 bedroom for 2 nights (or whatever the case is). They will work through any options on all resorts and room sizes. Their goal is really to find you something,

For most resorts, a studio or 1 bedroom will likely have equal booking status, since they are both part of lock off units. That being said, studios and 3 bedroom GVs are often the first to book up, with 2 bedrooms being the easiest at some resorts, and more difficult at others. Since BWV only has lock offs, there should be little difference in what unit size there.

We've booked several last minute trips over the last couple of years (last minute meaning 5 days notice of 6 weeks notice). We've always had luck with SSR and OKW. Never at BCV.

If the 1st week is Daytona 500, WDW is usually busy; along w/week before & after Pres day weekend.

I'd take whatever you can snag, good luck!

Don't forget that you are in the system before you can actually vacation at WDW. You can make reservations, but you have to close on your contract before you can actually stay at the resort(if you bought thru Disney). DVC called last week to give my DD the news that she was all set to make reservations, except for an actual member number and card, which takes about 3 more weeks. :thumbsup2

We purchased through Disney and stayed on points this summer, about three weeks before our contract closed.

:goodvibes :sunny: :goodvibes :sunny:

The Daytona 500 is on the 18th, the day before Pres Day. The SuperBowl is on Sunday 2/4 in Miami. We booked from 2/5-2/16 to try and avoid the rush at the airports, mostly. :thumbsup2

About two weeks ago, we booked a studio at VWL for 2/4-2/8. There weren't any studios available at that time at BCV or BWV. There were just a few left at VWL but lots of availability at OKW and SSR.

thanks everyone for your responses! I've finally been able to plan our first DVC trip (well on paper at least, my resort choices are probably just a pipe dream at this point since we still can't even make a reservation for at least another 2 weeks when we will finally be in the DVC system! But I can dream can't I??!!) :rotfl:
We are buying a resale contract that normally comes with 150 points. But the previous owners had 55 banked points so we will be able to have 205 points for our upcoming trip! So to make the most of it, I've worked out a plan to stay 4 nights in a stuido (WLV is my first choice since we will have family staying at WL during that time) and 4 nights in a one bedroom (BCV would be my first choice since this is our home resort and I can't wait to stay there!). This way we could see what a studio is like as well as a one bedroom. (I'm secretly hoping that my dh is spoiled in the one bedroom and will agree to purchase more points!!)
I know at this point the best I can hope for is to be waitlisted at our choice resorts, but I've heard that OKW might still have openings so that would be fun too. I just can't wait to stay anywhere that's DVC!
