What's the latest on Mine Train?

Well, water started running from the waterfall on the mountain today. That's progress I guess.

To the least, they've had a lot of unexpected problems with this coaster so we're looking at an opening (maybe official but probably soft) around April 1, but things just keep get putting off because of these problems.

Thanks Andyman for posting the orig. open date.

I think Epcot took less time to build.

union labor...:) = quality work once it is value engineered after being over budget and then ve'ed once again because the project takes twice as long as it should

non union labor..?..:) = will probably fall apart. But it at least came in under budget and was completed before the deadline

Yep, especially as it may or may NOT be union; florida is an at will state, unions don't really have a lot of power around here.

Depends on WHEN in Spring... March 1st is spring, so is May 31st...... People are just hoping that it will be open for their trip.

No, March 1 is winter.

In my experience, when theme park companies say "spring" what they mean is "just in time for summer crowds" - i.e. Memorial Day weekendish.

I would definitely expect it open for summer crowds. I say soft opening in April by the looks of it. I've heard rumors of a May grand opening.

So incredibly hoping it will be open for our late May trip. When we planned this trip, we thought it was planned far enough out that it would be up and running.

Considering FL is a right to work state I see no reason Disney would use Union labor(extra costs, time, hassle etc). So I really do wonder why it takes them so long to complete their projects as of late. Anyone remember the Eisner years? Two theme parks, Water park, expansions of DTD, and a bunch of hotels not to mention some of the new E ticket rides (TT) all in around a decade or so....sigh. At least I know it will be open when we go back in December probably ha.

You all realize that they are trying to build a mountain ride in the middle of the most visited theme park in the world, right? I think there's a lot they can't do in the middle of the day, so their hours are restricted.

When I was there last summer for MK evening EMH, I saw several construction workers come through a back gate and enter the construction site. I remember thinking to myself, "that wasn't very magical." ;)

But nonetheless, for the rest of the evening I was there (11:00pm-2:00am roughly) they were actively working on the ride. And they weren't beforehand.

Darn! Had read quite a while ago that it was likely we would see a soft opening during our trip. Oh well, NOT going to dwell on it and it won't ruin our trip. Will have to go back!
